Out2gtcha
Ok guys a friend and fellow LSPer (tanks Phil!) turned me on to a ZM advert he spied: I then notice the unbelievable..............IMHO anyway..............Their release #6 IS in fact a 1/32 He-219A! Andy beat me to the punch on dat one! Unbelievable to me, because if ROG also releases an Owl, then this situation is VERY similar to the predicament they have found themselves in with their P-51. Only this one is a bit in the opposite direction of the dilemma with the Tamiya offering. - With the Tamiya P-51 offering, ZM found themselves competing with a kit of similar price (if not a bit higher) but likely viewed as superior in most ways (generally). - With the 219, they likely would find themselves competing with a kit of similar correctness, and accuracy, that will likley go together much quicker, and would be priced likely WAY cheaper. My question when looking at this advert is this: If release #1 was the Shinden.............. and release #2 was the Ta-152........... and release #3 was the A1-H............... and release #4 will be the P-51D......... and release #6 will be the He219....... and release #7 will be the A1-J.......... What the H E DOUBLE HOCKEY STICKS is their release #5?!?!? Discuss................ Edited January 26, 2012 by Out2gtcha
Derek B
Good point Brian - the only thing that seems to be missing from that list is a Spitfire...or maybe a 109? Derek

Out2gtcha
So what I dont get is why they put out such a colorful advert with bold & obvious release numbering, and SKIP OVER a release number, whilst also putting out a later release of what must have been a known subject that a competing company was putting out?? I guess maybe the R & D for the ZM 219 was in the planning stage before they learned of the ROG offering?? Not hammering on my earlier statement but seems like the same predicament they were already in............or maybe a lack of research on their compeditor's releases? Rui Silva
Hi, Z-M release #5 was supposed to be the Mitsubishi Raiden, another instance of releasing a model just being offered by another company, Hasegawa in this case. This is most unfortunate, in 6 different models Z-M has managed to clash with the 3 "major" players: Tamiya, Hasegawa and now Revell! Speaking for myself, I bought from Z-M one Shinden, two Ta 152 and one Skyraider but in the case of the "doppelganger" Raiden, Mustang and Uhu I will carefully consider the reviews before making my choice in favour of the quite expensive Z-M models. Happy modelling, Rui Silva

Kagemusha
Pretty certain it's going to be the Raiden http://forum.largescaleplanes.com/index.php?showtopic=31182&st=0&p=279753&hl=raiden&fromsearch=1entry279753 or should that be, another Raiden Beaten to the punch, it must be catching Brian... Bryan
This is an obvious opinion...but trying to compete with the Tamiya P-51D is a bad situation to be in. I wonder if they started it before they knew Tamiya was doing one? They should have done a Tempest....
Ads
Well at the London Toy fair the Revell stand had the picture of a UHU with "July" on the card - not an actual box mind you - but it seems the Revell will be out first - they have one in the Berlin Museum of technology as well so well see again which is better in time i suppose! We all know that these dates are nothing like final - Good for modellers cheaper kits Ads
JamesHatch
A friend with a 'friend' within Revell say that their July date is tentative, but more likely to be November/December, to coincide with Christmas. I can't confirm the validity of that.
Hans
ZM say they will release an A-0, an early production version, while Revell will be doing an A-7, the very last production model. There are a number of differences between the A-0 and the A-7, most notably the longer engine nacelles af the latter. More competition means lower prices. Looking forward to both releases! LSP_K2
I can’t believe it’s only been a scant few years ago that I openly proclaimed my annoyance with the manufacturers for not releasing more 1:32 subjects. Now I can’t possibly keep up with them all. I love this current situation.
