Gazzas
Nice one..what decals will u use ? Thanks! I've begged for a set of NJG 1 shields which should be arriving any time, and black 4 will be supplied by my Silhouette Portrait. Before begging for a set of the NJG 1 decals, I tried to do it with the silhouette cutter. But trying to separate all of that detail in a space less than 12mm (1/2 inch) tall was too much. I imagine that even if I could get it "right", the layers of paint would be stacked pretty deep. The nat'l markings will be the Eduard kit decals. Gazzas
Hi Everyone, Been slowly working up to speed on this one. The interior didn't have any PE or decals, being a 'weekend edition' kit. So, no special photos of the interior because my detail painting ain't that good. Here's my progress thus far: The kind of details I like are here on the outside: I used washes over Alclad to make the exhausts look heated but not rusted. I put foil around the oleos to give a metallic shine. And copper wire to make the brake hoses. The brake lines themselves are plastic parts from the kit which I painted with Alclad and then went over with Tamiya clear red. Those Tamiya clears are great with an airbrush, but less great with bristles. There'll be more washes and weathering 0n the tires, but the bird will only have light weathering. Gazzas
Great Pics! Thank you! Too bad this is a 109T. Note the Feiseler supercharger intake. The E4 I'm doing has only a small section of the aircraft visible. So I'm gonna... Extrapolate a little... Custom spinner... Kill markings.... But too early for fuselage band, I reckon. Anybody know if 10. Staffel NJG 1 would have carried a Gruppe (3rd or 4th) symbol aft of the fuselage cross? Thanks, Gaz
Martinnfb
yes I know, it is T, but pretty T :). I believe that 109s received alphanumerical designation after their arrival to NJG1 . G9+xx. etc.. , I am planning to build the famous G9+JV. Cheers M.
Gazzas
Martin, You always come up with the best photos! I can only assume that my chosen machine was transferred from another unit and quickly had the Englandblitz badge added to the original late BoB scheme. Think I read that the original pilots came from JG 2. I've still to do an all-black aircraft. I have a couple of smaller scale night fighters I want to play with before I do anything in large scale monochrome. Gaz
chrish
Just a thought, I’ve tried a couple of night fighters with black/dark undersides, I mix dark blue with black (Tamiya acrylics) and the colour looks black until you put on the balkenkruze decals, then there’s a small but distinct difference in the painted black and the “black cross” black giving the underside a slightly weathered/ faded look. I could try putting up a picture of it if you think you might like a look Gazzas

Martinnfb
This set could be vital for black 109 https://eshop.aml.cz/en/home/1676-132-bf-109-e-4-with-peilg-iv.html
