Recommended Posts

Hello to all

Thank you very much, Denis, Kevin, Troy Molitor, Borsos, Mike, Jaro, Matt, John and Andy for your many complimentary comments about my MB152 :)

It's a lot of pleasure to read you ..................... and also a lot of pleasure to read your step by step of your magnificent models to all !

@ Mike : Look at my propeller cone compared to your beautiful photo and I can't really see the difference ?

I've posted the main part on this difficult MB152 Azur ; so,this long step-by-step will soon come to the end.
There are still a few other little scratches, like the little aluminium "cabochons" and the landing light on the left wing ( with some pictures ).

In the end : the chosen decoration with the pilote.

Have a good weekend and see you soon.
Thanks again to everyone.

Gilles

Awesome camo!  Which company makes the paint colors, I know that French shades can be a pain to find.

Hi Matt.
It seems to me that Gilles uses Humbrol paints Hu159 + Hu98 + Hu3 + Hu87.
Can you confirm these paints, Gilles?

Hi Borsos.
Here's what I read on a French forum:

-HATAKA acrylic paints go straight into the garbage can (red line)
-HATAKA lacquers are good quality (orange line).

Apparently there's a consensus on their paint range, but I'm only reporting what I've read, so don't get me wrong if the "orange line" is PITA...
The photo of the HATAKA set you posted seems to be the "orange line".

I've used the orange line paints, and they work well with a bit of extra thinning. They are not truly sprayable right out of the bottle as they claim, but with some Mr. Leveling Thinner they work great.

Thank you very much for your answers, gentlemen!

I’ve already worked with these orange-line (laquer based) paints and with a little extra thinning they spray really well.

I was thinking about the shades. For my opinion, they fit the French camouflage colors quite well, they might be a little on the darker side.

P.S.: I agree, the red line colors suck, but I personally don’t airbrush Vallejo paints neither

Hello everyone

I confirm what Denis wrote about the Humbrol shades for French camouflage :

For the camo Extrados :
- Dark blue grey = Hu 03 or Hu144
- Khaki = Hu 159
- Burnt earth = Hu 098
- Light blue grey = Hu 087

For the Intrados :
- Light blue = Hu 065

Have a good Sunday

Gilles

As decoration, I chose the Bloch coded "7" N° 528 flown by S/Lt Robert THOLLON of the GC1/8 with 8 victories obtained between May and June 1940.
Why this plane, quite simply because Robert THOLLON was based at Claye Souilly ( 77 ) in June 1940, airfield rather closer to Mitry Mory and thus not far from my current residence.
This airfield has since been 'digested' by the huge Charles De Gaulle airport.

This is the story of a victory (his 5th) by S/Lt Robert THOLLON:

On 03 June 1940, the alert was given at Claye Souilly at around 1pm because 12 bombers had been reported coming from Thieux.
After a bombardment in rule of the ground of Claye Souilly making quite a lot of damage, the S/Lt Robert THOLLON takes off to intercept the bombers.
At 2.05pm, the group came across a platoon of 7 Ju88s flying 500m above the airfield.
S/Lt THOLLON attacked a Ju88 and set fire to an engine while silencing the tail gunner.
The Ju88 then lost altitude and finally landed with its trains retracted in a field close to the small village of Cocherel ( Seine et Marne ) at around 14h10.

Absolutely awesome, Gilles !

The final result is a thing of beauty, teeming with details absolutely everywhere, and the tutorial for creating your cabochons is really very interesting.
But it confirms what I thought: this model isn't for me.
You need gold in your fingers to get the most out of it.
Bravo again Gilles, it was fascinating and instructive from start to finish.
Can't wait for the next model!

:goodjob:
