The subtleties in the finish are what matter here, and I think it looks great.

Okay, so I'm not a know it all about German aircraft from the period. What is that on the underside of the fuselage? I'm guessing some sort of radar? Was it for spotting other aircraft or perhaps an early radar altimeter?

@denders it was more of a locating antenna......I believe it wasn't very successful at all according to what I've read

An absolutely stunning build. The glossy weathering looks a perfect foil to the matt finish.

PS  I'm curious..what did they did about the maintenance stencils on black finishes? Most Luftwaffe a/c had them all over the place.  Maybe not night fighters, though. Another on those "mysteries" that pop up frequently regarding esoteric subjects.

Thanks Damian @D.B. Andrus From what I've read, it depended.... Some airframes were re-stencilled in red, but most of the more unimportant stencils were merely painted over

Lovely paint work! The small differences in sheen and tone are readily noticeable but not in your face by any means. Well done

Thanks Brian, much appreciated

Excellent work as usual! You’ve brought the monotone finish to life, and I love how those rivets look.

Cheers,  Tom

Thanks Tom, much appreciated. Yes, those rivet sets look very nice indeed thanks to HGW. Quite a subtle, but noticeable visual element.
