Hi Guys,

Here's where we are up to at the moment.

D-13 ready to paint.

One of the D-9 kits with Henri Daehne prop.  The other two will have kit spinners and resin blades, can't think of the brand though.

On the last one I've tried to point out the larger air scoop and the widened part of the fuselage.

Hi Guys,

Plan B (for Bucket) is now in operation. I'm going to make a D-11 as well! Might not (actually will not!) be this year but I've got the base model, the Hasegawa D-9 kit. I've found an A-8 kit that will provide the underwing and overwing parts for the fairings over the outboard cannons. I know I've got some MDC MK108 guns somewhere and I've got a second Grey Matters/Jerry Rutman D-13 conversion coming on Saturday. And I've emailed Henri Daehne about getting another prop kit.

Why the rush? Today is my 67th birthday and I want to at least get the model started prior to Bucket kicking time!

Regards,

Bruce Crosby

Very nice so far!

And a belated happy 67th.

My 67th comes up later this month-earlier this year I didn't know whether I was going to miss it or not.

As with my piece-together builds, your main challenge will be will the finished product work look as impressive as your work so far?

I have a HobbyCraft 1/48th Dornier that I will regret finally finishing, as I imagine as you do, I enjoy trying out the newer products out there.

Hi Guys,

Work so far: when I was trial fitting the engine pods I pulled one off and the large pins moulded onto the fuselage pulled away with one of the pods! The pins were trapped inside the pod's poly caps. I used a fine drill to put a hole down the back of each pin then spun a round file into the plastic to grip it so I could pull it out.  Then I drilled holes in the front of the Fuselage and dropped in new pins cut from some Contrail plastic rod.  The Contrail stuff has been in my strip and rod collection for at least 20 years and its brilliant for quick and dirty modellers like me.

Hi Guys,

I spent most of yesterday evening masking up the four canopies inside and out. A complete pain but had to be done.  I used Aizu Micron tape to outline the areas then filled in with bits of Tamiya tape.  I hate using the liquid masks as they are rubbish to work with.

And the engine pods complete with the Henri Daehne props.
