Guest Airfixer
You were already mentioning the K-4... Another interesting feature rarely seen on large scale K-4: the mechanical landing gear indicator pin on wing rib #3. Also, the K-4 featured a rearranged battery box installation and a redesigned trapezoidal battery box/equipment cover, omitting both the riveted-on battery box fairing and the slanted upper edges of the cover itself. LSP_Mike
Interesting pic. The standard canopy, G6 cowl, wooden tail, and short tailwheel. mpk

LSP_Mike
Notice how little smoke stain there is in the gun troughs on the cowl. Also, base of the spinner is not white. mpk

Note the sharp shadows in the panel lines, suggesting to use pin washes but not surface washes. Then the sand-yellow of the cowling is not uniform. You would have to do a lot of minute modulation to replicate such an effect. Note also the absence of wear that shows the metal underneath the paint. Mikester
Notice how little smoke stain there is in the gun troughs on the cowl. Also, base of the spinner is not white. The spinner base is a little intriguing. Not uncommon to see them left in the RLM 70 that they were painted in at the factory but that's the first time I've seen one painted like that. mpk
LSP_Mike
"Private! paint the spinner white" guy removes spinner and paints it while prop is being serviced. Nice detail, and one to get some "expert" triggered at a show. mpk
dodgem37
A wash will stain the surface, lowering it's intensity. A pin wash is applied only to the line, and creates a contrast between line and surface. That's just my take. Others mileage may vary.
