thierry laurent
Thanks a lot Eli! No, they are far from being identical. The full IP should be recreated... Harold
Bill Cross
Is someone going to make an Israeli 'pit for this kit? Eric is diffident about it, but I'm ready to purchase one!!
dutik
Hmm, no radar scope. Was the CJ delivered without the Cyrano radar? Regards - dutik
Eli Raphael
Yes they had the radar but didn't use the scope, it was by "beep" sounds. Barry
dutik
Thanks. Now I understand why the IPs of the Argentinian CJ (modernized) doesn't show a radar scope... - dutik Zero77
ericg
I don't think this is a Mirage cockpit. The frames on the front windscreen are rounded, Mirage frames are straight. Gunsight looks totally different (like a british unit) Rudder pedals have a very Hawker look about them The coaming is unlike any other Mirage cockpit I have ever seen Control stick has what looks like a brake lever on it, similiar to a Hunter. Just my two cents. Eric. alain11 and Zero77
Dave Williams
I don't think it's a Shahak cockpit either. The Osprey book on Israeli Mirage and Nesher Aces shows a pretty normal IIIC IP. Plus, the instrument arrangement is completely different from the standard IIIC. There would have been no reason for the Israelis to completely redesign the panel. Later in the service life, the IAF birds did have the radar replaced with ballast, but even so it would be likely that they would simply cover where the radar scope was with a plate. Guest Airfixer
Definitely not a Mirage III IP. This is a Vautour II instrument panel with a Ferranti Mark 4(?) gyroscopic gunsight. Ferranti GGS were also manufactured under licence by Sadir-Carpentier in France.
ericg
And that folks, is why you never believe everything you see on the Internet. Eli, please consider deleting the thread. It has caused a bit of confusion behind the scenes. Eric.
thierry laurent
Ok, I know now why I was puzzled by the angled shape of the IP cover edges...!
Eli Raphael
Sorry about this. I asked for help from a well respected Israeli modeler.
dutik
BTW, if you are looking for a late/modernized CJ cockpit - here it is in colour (scroll down to the bottom). Regards - dutik Bill Cross and Kagemusha
