tomv87
Man that's coming along nicely! I've wondered about those rivet sets... Looks like I need to get me some. Superb build so far!
D.B. Andrus
Fenous Your excellent work has inspired me to get a set of the HGW rivets. Cheers, D.B.
Mal_Belford
Ah.... I thought that the rivets on the cowling were positive rivet stencils and the rest were made by you and a riveter.... The HGW rivets shure looks fantastic on the fuselage....cant wait to some paint. /Mal
LSP_Kevin
Now that I come to think about it, weren't those prop blades made out of wood? Kev
JeffH
Definitely wood on a D9 but I would need to check a ref for the A7.
JeffH
Smith and Creek Vol 2 page 359 shows an A4 on its belly with bent blades. Aero Detail #6 says VDM9-12067 on an A4 so I would assume Antons all used metal and the switch was made for the Dora. Of course I will defer to another ref for the A7. stevegallacci
Metal for most BMW applications. FYI more blade wear would be on the back side, and, ironically, towards the trailing edge.
D.B. Andrus
On FW 190A-9/F-9's if blades were wider than normal, then they were wooden.
LSP_Kevin
On FW 190A-9/F-9's if blades were wider than normal, then they were wooden. That's what had me curious: they look more like the broad-chord wooden blades of the D-series. Kev
stevegallacci
That's what had me curious: they look more like the broad-chord wooden blades of the D-series. Kev As you mention it, the blades do look a bit off- first impression was that they were too wide for the standard type- but, no they look about right, at least proportionally. I was about to comment that the tips seem a bit too pointy, then took a good look at my refs again, and notice that there was a subtle bit of variation- both in the over all plan form and in the tip shape. So the pictured props are within the range for the standard metal blades for the BMW.
