stusbke
hello my friends, this is one Gb that can really fire things up and I for one hope to make it to the finish line with this one....I've still have two other projects on the go but this one will fill in the drying times for those then.... Anyway I'm going for an A-6C of which very few where build and these bad boys where passed around so they gained quite some combat hours....I plan on doing one as per the picture below VA165 on the USS America but then a few hours before the launch when she's bombed up, wings folded all ready and awaiting its crew with a few clutter around it and tow bars attached, to make the scene more busy. I'm now looking at the TRIM pod underneath her belly, not a lot one can find on the internet, got few plans and sketches in my reference books so its going to be eye balling this one alas. They didn't scrap these as they where updated to A6E tram's afterwards. And since only 18 where build converted there's not that whole lot out there....but I'll get R done. Markings will be masked on far easier and better then decals IMHO, stencils I'll use from the kit or I'll buy Zotz for those I'll have look later at the decals.... As requested here's the box with a few items extra might add a few more when I'm fully going with this one, but time will tell.... Broke the lid up yesterday and taped the thing together the fit is rather pleasing and I see a few things I can detail some more but overall this is one hell of a kit! can't wait to get really started on this one, I plan on putting in a pair of Aires GRU7's in there not sure if those are the right seats for this airframe, if not I'll get some old ones...Hope to be posting more of this one soon, looking forward to this one, gotta love the intruder..... Tony T
Hi Frederick, Inspired choice! That cruise was also the first for the A-6B PAT/ARM Iron Hand subvariant. I remember reading the original ATKRON report which was nice and chunky and might post my summary here: VA-165 A-6Cs conducting the Trails War over Vietnam and Laos. PM me with your email address and I'll send you some tiffs/jpegs I have, which include the A-6C cockpit layout and a few external pics which might help. Tony T
TRIM cupola r/h side... Note that this view has part of the aft cupola 'wings' removed, hence the castellated trailing edge...the one below has the 'full length' 'wings' fitted... Note also that Harold's wheels (AMS) are necessary! Seats too! Edited May 4, 2014 by Tony T stusbke
Tony T
TRIM cupola, l/h side... unfortunately the rotating sensor apertures are not visible deployed. Maybe someone has such a shot? Tony Kagemusha, Derek B and stusbke
