Wolf Buddee
Boy I got t' tell ya,.....between you with this Hurricane build and Mark with his Mustang, very inspirational builds. Makes the fuel primer lines on my Merlin I've been struggling with look like child's play for heaven's sake! This is one of those modeling odysseys that just continues to blow me away. Simply incredible work Richard! Cheers, Wolf

PhilB
Thought I'd drop in and see if you were still at it? Yup, aircraft modelling porn at its best! You really do need some therapy Richard!!!! Just mindbending stuff!!!!!! Carry On.
dodgem37
'3.22mm wide x 6.1mm deep and 7.5mm long.' So BIG?! I take back what I said before. THIS! is the wildest thing I've ever seen. Very nice piece of detail work. I particularly like the ribbing. What did you use to carve the piece? Manual tools or power? Thank you. Sincerely, Mark
Budman
Richard, I accused Wolf and Mark of being the most mentally deficient modelers on the planet but I was not aware of your work at the time. Upon seeing your work (which is also insanely over the top) the three of you have caused me to consider competitive basket weaving as a hobby (but I can't find a forum for it)!! Truthfully, the work that the three of you do is really unbelivable. You all have certainly thrown the gauntlet and challenged the rest of us to pick up our game. I cannot comprehend the linkage you designed, engineered and then fabricated. Thanks for the pictures. Can't wait for more!! Bud

Simply incredible work Richard! Cheers, Wolf I dont think your build Wolf is childs play, your detail is way smaller than what I do !! brilliant I say, but the odyssey will keep going. This build is getting my juices flowing so that I will be able to scratch build a 1:24 Lancaster Wow! Oh mama! Thanks Marek much appreciated Thought I'd drop in and see if you were still at it? That made me laugh , but the thing is my friend, my modeling is my therapy. Appreciate very much you looking in. '3.22mm wide x 6.1mm deep and 7.5mm long.' So BIG?! I take back what I said before. Sincerely, Mark I know that this is big compared to what you are doing because I have seen your detail. You asked what did I use to carve? I use a Turbo Carver which runs on air at 400,000 rpm and the burs that I use I got from the dentist, when you use it it sounds just like you are in the chair having your teeth fixed. I have attached a picture and here www.turbocarver.com is there web site. I use different burs to remove brass when I want to make brackets, it is a great tool to have. Bud Hi Bud thanks for your very nice comments, yes you could say we are a bit extreme !! in what we do but I love this type of modeling, it might not be for everyone, but I hope some will look at this work and give it a try. Regarding designing I have not done this, I just go by the drawings I have purchased, find a measurement so that I can then scale the whole drawing and then make the item to the scale dimensions. There will be more just got to make it. this is beyond modeling, this is art Hi Shawn, thanks for the kind words, I think every model on this site is a piece of art, mine is just a tad different. Best regards All until next post Richard
geedubelyer
Hello Richard, I feel genuinely priviledged to be able to tag along with a build of this calibre. ( I'm also grateful to you for taking the time to share your expertise, thanks. I dream of being able to create something like this but I'm acutely aware of my limitations so I watch with awe as you continue your journey. Cheers, (p.s, Whilst we are compiling a list of uber modellers we ought to include Oliver with his Huey, Pete and his massive A/T-38 and now Timmy! with his new Jaguar project )
spacewolf
So, once you have the airframe done I assume you will be scratch building the funcional Merlin too ?..... This is such amazing and inspiring work, seeing what you are doing has me thinking about how I can do similar stuff. Thank you for showing us how ! A.Wolf Grant
I ... I'm speechless ! Just how much more can I stand? have you no mercy at all?? Take no notice of that ... I've said it before and I'll say it again .. I love watching this and, as always, can't wait for more. You, sir, are a Jedi Master of precision scratch building. May the Force continue to be with you. Grant

Cheers, (p.s, Whilst we are compiling a list of uber modellers we ought to include Oliver with his Huey, Pete and his massive A/T-38 and now Timmy! with his new Jaguar project ) Hi Geedubelyer, that is awfully nice of you to say, it is a journey for sure which I don't mind making. Why you say that you are acutely aware of your limitations, I still belive that almost all modellers could do this! if they had the right tools to do the job and drawings and nearly forgot patience, When I did my apprenticeship back when I was 17 in England we were taught how to read/draw drawings for better part of the day, because if you cannot read a drawing you can't build anything. I dont feel like I'am a uber modeller I do hope I don't come across as one, I just build for relaxation So, once you have the airframe done I assume you will be scratch building the funcional Merlin too ?..... This is such amazing and inspiring work, seeing what you are doing has me thinking about how I can do similar stuff. Thank you for showing us how ! Vaughn Hi Vaughn glad what I'am doing is making you think of how you can make stuff, because this is what it is all about, I have learnt alot from other modellers. I ... I'm speechless ! Just how much more can I stand? have you no mercy at all?? Take no notice of that ... I've said it before and I'll say it again .. I love watching this and, as always, can't wait for more. Grant May the force be with you Grant Agree 100% But many, many many more names. or shall we call no one uber??? Regards to all for your posting Richard Another up date, made the top part of the Rudder Pedestal and Rudder lever, then glued the brackets to the frame work, received the fusee chain which I think looks just the right size for the chain, so next up I will make some spockets etc etc. Put it in the frame just to see how it looked and I think it has come out not to bad, Regards Richard Tomek
