Shoggz
As per the title! I got a set of lovely ResKit wheels for my 1:24 Mossie, but there doesn't seem to be an obvious way (to a numbskull like me) to remove them without having to do some fairly heavy remedial work post-removal? Here's one of the wheels in question.. Any suggestions from you clever modelling folk? monthebiff
mozart
Not sure I qualify for the description but razor saw and careful knife work followed by sanding, though the tread complicates matters somewhat. Arrange that bit at the bottom Rich. Modelboy, MikeC, chrish and 3 others
Confusionreigns178
Pretty much what Mozart said. Have this area facing the ground, to hide it as much as possible. If you can re-scribe a new tread-pattern in this section that's convincing, then you are a MUCH better modeller than me. Other opinions may differ on the matter... Good luck. Chris. Shoggz
Thanks Max and Chris. I'll get the razor saw out and have a go.. It probably needs a bit of judicious sanding to create the 'flattened under weight' look anyway. mozart, dennismcc and LSP_K2
monthebiff
Do all the clean up before painting Rich, drill a hole in what will be the bottom of the wheel and use a cocktail stick and then paint and weather. MikeC
A litle bit of light sanding (not too much!) the tread all round the circumference won't hurt anyway: tyres wear irl, especially aircraft tyres - all those landings ... Shoggz
Palm-tree
Got several sets for different aircraft. The process is the same- razor saw off the thick stub, then use a razor blade to trim off the thin stub left over. Finally clean up with a fine sanding stick. Voila. Oh- and good luck.
