Agreed, a new IM kit would be great. The Hobbycraft kit is lacking, especially with its upside down wing. I ended up buying the old Touchdown kit, which has its own issues.

The interior, especially in back is totally different. Where the right side console would be on an E is a wall that partitions off the refueling probe on the J.

True that the old 1970s kit should be avoided, but I saw a build of the 1990s Revell kit with the 1970s Revell E nose grafted on, it looked exactly as it should. And the crap kit cost less than the resin bits. YMMV.

I never got around to trying my hand at one of these kits, but gave in and bought an Etendard. They had several 1_32 kits, but this is the only one that really interested me. Hopefully, it will not be a nightmare to build.....

I can't comment on the German aircraft production in general, but I remember watching a documentary about the FW-190,where they discussed the limitations on production caused by the people who made the control surfaces... folks who made furniture before the war. Apparently, the German need for perfection is not easily subdued, and quantity was secondary to quality. So at least the tail feathers were ace, even if the rest of the plane was crap.

Car model dilettante here, but I looked up the kit in question- the price for that thing is VERY serious. Wow.
