  1. He replied very quickly. He said he had one that he built do the same thing to him. So he beefed up the parts with a thicker, stiffer wire on the later kits he made, and he offered replacements. So I'll have some surgery to do once those parts get here. Peter, you've seen what collapsed on my model. Before you start yours you might want to check your kit and see if those parts are reinforced.
  2. Actually, I had only noticed this very recently after the model had been sitting on a shelf for months, possibly a year. It hadn't occurred to me yet to contact FMP, but I just sent them a message. I've built the Sea Fury, Panther & Cougar, the Cutlass. This F4D is my fifth Fisher build.
  3. Sorry for going off topic here. It's only to illustrate Clunkmeister's point. Not always G-Factor. Fisher is inconsistent in sourcing things from 3rd parties. The F7U has main gear legs from G-Factor. The long nose gear leg is a resin casting with a metal insert. The F4D, all three L/G assemblies are resin castings with wire inserts in the larger parts only. Ditto for the F9F Panther & Cougar. The Sea Fury had G-Factor legs. This is the same part on the F4D before and after shelf-sitting: I don't mind at all paying big bucks for good resin kits. And at this price point I would have no issue in paying a little more to have had the G-Factor gear included. I haven't built an HPH kit yet, but there's a few in my stash. I don't think they weigh as much as the Fisher models, but still, resin is heavier than injection molded styrene plastic.
  4. I have the Revell/Germany issue of this kit. I love desert camo schemes and the kit I have provides a lovely North Africa paint job.
  5. I have one in the stash but I have way too many half-finished projects to be starting on anything new. It is one amazing kit!
  6. I just picked up a Revell N1K1 mid-wing George for a really good price on ebay. Now, the hard part: Just to find one of those old Rex conversion kits.....
  7. In at Sprue Brothers: http://store.spruebrothers.com/product_p/edu11104.htm
  8. Aerobonus (or is it quickboost) has a pilot figure in a K-36 seat that should work.
  9. Jennings, my offer to loan you my kit still stands if you decide to go through with it.
  10. When did the RFC Sopwith Pup sell out? Just noticed that on their site.
  11. I've tried all the usual (American) suspects but it's sold out everywhere I looked.
  12. Oh, well. That's one that I want. There's two auctions running on ebay, and I expect the sellers will now get more than they expected.
  13. There was a great documentary on PBS about the salvage operation. I think it was a British production, so it probably aired in other countries as well. It ended up costing around $1 Billion (USD) to re-float and remove the ship.
  14. Fairchild AFB, Washington after Mount St. Helens erupted and dumped ash on the region.. They had their annual air show scheduled that day. A large number of aircraft, including an SR-71, got stuck there until the place could be cleaned up. Fairchild is about 240 miles (about 385 km) ENE of Mount St. Helens. https://www.facebook.com/pg/92ARWHistorian/photos/?tab=album&album_id=696649237101889 I think this is a public posting, so anyone should be able to see it regardless of Facebook membership or not.
  15. Darn. I bought that kit on ebay last year for $60 USD.
  16. I would be happy with any Soviet cold-war aircraft in 1/32 you wish to produce. I'm currently building your Su-7 kit and it is impressive.
  17. I have these decals. NICE!!!
  18. Any announcement of new Russian stuff in 1/32 is a good news for me! Thanks for the info.
  19. Is that 1/32? Smaller scales need not apply..
  20. Hi Greg, is the 1/72 Tu-104 still available or is it OOP?
  21. Some of the prettiest airplanes ever built were the DeHavilland 2-seat biplanes:
  22. I see U.S. based sellers on ebay have the Me 262 listed.
  23. I just got one of the Helldiver kits from you on ebay. Exquisite!!!
