Thomas Lund reacted to Shoggz in An actual model shop to visit!
I had seen on the Book of Face that a new model shop had opened in Rugby - 10 miles away from Châteaux Shoggz - so at the weekend I took a trip over.
I ended up spending over an hour in there - basically just chewing the fat with the owner - Timothy! (I did eventually buy some AK Marker pens and a new hobby-knife!)
It was such a joy to peruse an actual bricks and mortar outlet - much as I've embraced the online world of model-making.
So, anyone in the Rugby area (probably just me!) give it a visit.

Thomas Lund got a reaction from Rick Griewski in 1/16 Trumpeter Sdkfz 251 Stuka-zu-Fuss
Got this one at our last show in september - i've been using the majority of my time on this since then. Quite fun. You know it's said that you should consider every part a model in it's own, and I think that I've forgotten that. However with this one - probably due to the size - I rediscovered this. That made it a lot of fun but also quite time consuming. I decidede that a plain 251 was too boring, and was looking at converting it to either an ambulance, a PAK wagon or a Stuka-zu-Fuss. All of these could be found as aftermarket but they were really steep, so I decided that I could do the Stuka-zu-Fuss myself, mostly drawing it in CAD and printing it. A little scratchbuilding too, and some 3D printed from downloaded files - the figure and most of the stuff littering the inside. The blanket rolls I did out of those wet-wipes for glasses, though.
Hope you like it

Thomas Lund reacted to Alain Gadbois in Hobby shops (and other aircraft stuff) in Montreal ?
Try JacHobby, lots of various kits (aviation, armor, cars, shops) and supplies. Also trains!
But it’s in Laval, north of Montréal.
270 Renaud Street W, Laval.
The well known shops like Hobby Junction and Udisco are now long gone.

Thomas Lund got a reaction from Pastor John in 1/32 Bf109G-14/AS
Uhhhh lovely 109 !!! So hard to make a single color scheme look good, but you made it. I particularly like the discoloration on the wing root from the crew walking there...

Thomas Lund got a reaction from Greg W in 1/350 Takom Zeppelin P class
A fun and different build. The... fuselage (??) came in four pieces - left, right + front, back. Instructions says to assemble front left to right, then back left to right and then assemble front and back. However a friend of mine gave me the advice to do the two left sides and then the two right sides making sure they were aligned well before assembling the two sides (was that clear). I'm pretty sure he was right as following the instructions would have made it hell to align the bits and get it smooth.
Anyway... hope you enjoy it. Kit is recommended if you do as I say above.

Thomas Lund got a reaction from Zola25 in 2 x Airfix 1/24 Spitfire Mk. IXc
(said with humor and a glimpse in the eye) - no please don't. If you and Kent show up, then there is no chance for me in the large scale aircraft class 😆😆
Naturally I want you to bring them - we should have the best possible competition... and I sure want to see them in person

Very nice indeed, and if you have a 1/35 251, put it beside one of your other 1/35 kits and you'll see how big it really is.
