Sine my Wif build is stalled, I'm going to start out fresh with a Cobra. The kit is the first AFV Club boxing of the original non-NTS MRC kit. The only difference is the decals and the addition of a resin turret with metal gun barrels. I'm adding in the Cobra Company NTS upgrade set, and the Verlinden detail set, which includes the gun breech and open bottom turret. Decals are Two Bobs.

I'm looking forward to this build. I found the later Academy NTS release and I'm planning to enter that in this GB.

Unfortunately, I'm still working long hours and don't have much time for Modelling. I thought I'd be done by now, but hopefully I'll be able to get started this weekend.

The sleeper awakens. Cut off the nose and removed the side armor panels in preparation for fitting the Cobra Company pit and NTS nose. Also, added the Eduard vents and removed the oil cooler from the underside.

Anxious to see what you do with the cross for the landing skids on this one. As you know they are round on the NTS birds versus airfoil shape like in the kit.

Most likely I won't bother with the landing gear cross members. Too easy to mess it up.

Hi Dave, nice progress so far.

Just a quick question for you. You've removed the side armour plates from the cockpit walls. Are there replacements in the Verlinden set or did the NTS not have them? I'm working on the same kit but want to know if I should take them out like you have.

Thanks,

Carl

Hi Carl,

There are replacement side armor panels in both the Cobra Company and Verlinden sets. The aftermarket sets have you remove the kit panels.

Thanks Dave. The Eduard PE set has panels you add to either side of the armour plate so I'm good to go there.

A small update. Been cleaning up the resin parts and assembling the Master M197 barrels.

My Cobra Company set only had two of the armor plate wings for the seat, so I had to make the other two.

Finally, since I wasn't going to show the engine, I blanked off the opening with sheet plastic, which also improved the fit of the cowling.

Good show. Do you have a link to the gun?

Thank you.

Sincerely,

Mark
