Rick K Posted November 18, 2022 Posted November 18, 2022 Hey guys. I'm going to attempt soldering Master FuG220 Brass Antenna. Looking for solder Recommendations/Coaching. Solder Paste? Really thin solder wire? I have Dual Soldering Gun and Soldering Iron from my Archer Kit days. Both are 80's "vintage". Is it time for and upgrade? Thanks - Rick
mozart Posted November 18, 2022 Posted November 18, 2022 This is how I did mine Rick, very easy and works a treat. D.B. Andrus and Rick K 1 1
Hartmann352 Posted November 19, 2022 Posted November 19, 2022 Also check with “Chuckw”. Amazing work from that man. Cheers, Dave Rick K 1

How do you not loosen up other nearby completed solder joints while working on the next join? I use a heat sink on previously soldered areas. A wet piece of kitchen towel should work. Wrapp around the previously soldered area. I bought a Weller Soldering Station, setting the temperature at around 300 degrees Celsius, depending on the task to solder. I also use soldering flux and fine or medium size solder. Rick K 1

Wurzacher Posted November 19, 2022 Posted November 19, 2022 Well, one needs solder to, errhh, solder. Flux fluid or paster helps the solder to flow easily and get a nice weld seam. Rick K 1
Barry Posted November 19, 2022 Posted November 19, 2022 Hi Rick, I recommend the following solder and flux. I buy mine from Micro Mark. I solder a lot. https://forum.largescaleplanes.com/index.php?/topic/64967-update-21320-116-m1a1ha-abrams-w-tusk-i-upgrades/#comment-844163 Rick K 1

Rick K Posted November 21, 2022 Author Posted November 21, 2022 Thank you for the replies. Ahem, Thomas.... it was a blinding glimpse of the obvious until I realized that was a solder paste tube.
