allthumbs
Awesome video! Note that the LE/TE flaps are not extended until just prior to takeoff, perhaps to avoid a bleed air over-temp. Also interesting to see the roll spoilers partially deflected during departure, to correct for crosswind or gust conditions I presume (the ailerons only deployed 1 degree up on Phantoms…any additional “down wing” force was provided by the spoilers). Tony T
Thanks. I've seen some of their other Phantom videos and they're all awesome. The 501 Hikotai at Hyakuri flew its Phantoms in a four-ship Phinale on 9 March 2020, one and a half years ago, the last to land being the first recce rhino to be built for Japan (RF-4E 47-6901) and first to be handed over in December 1974 (the gun ones having joined the JASDF from August 1972). Always liked these jets. It's a pity Tamiya never did the RF-4E in its line-up, but there's always 1/48 scale. Thanks again for the video link. Another good one is "she's rain". Chek
Interesting to see the RF-4E in the blue ocean scheme. Was in use by the 8 Sqn F-4EJs (so may be a final hurrah in their honour) and the F-2A strike squadrons. Uncarina

Gerhard
Very cool. Maybe I should buy a Phantom kit?
