Ju388 Instrument Panel

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

while I'm not very active on the forums at this moment I still keep an eye out on anything LSP related. As some of you might remember a few years ago I finished the AIMS Ju388 L1 conversion. When building it I wasn't to happy with the instrument panel (a few mm to big) so I decided to create one in 3D and print it through Shapeways.

Recently one of our forum members asked me about it and one thing let to another; the IP is now available for purchase on Shapeways (see direct link below). If you decide to purchase it, keep in mind that everything will be handed by Shapeways (not me). Prices are also set by Shapeways, I don't make any money from it. Just here to help my fellow modelers.

If you have a 3D printer yourself, please PM me and we can probably work something out.

Cheers, Wouter

Just placed my order at Shapeways, in smoothest fine detail plastic. Wouter, thank you so much for making this possible!

Now, if only someone would redo the resin bomb bay part of this conversion set...

You're welcome Thomas. As for the bomb bay, I don't have much info about that one. Maybe John from AIMS would be willing to commission the part. If anyone has enough info on the Ju88 and derivatives it would be him I guess.

The bomb bay only needs a little deeper scribing and cleaning up. I did my best at the time. The conversion is a massive comprehensive kit - obviously there is some work involved! I hardly think you need an aftermarket part to fix an aftermarket part!

Agreement about the bomb bay. I have been building this kit on and off for a few months. I cleaned up the edges for a nice fit to the fuselage. Next comes a bit of scribing cleanup.  The tail needs more panel line uniformity too. None too difficult IMHO.  3D print would be thinner and lighter.  However I would spend my print money on the engines and some of the cockpit details.

I misread the post from Thomas as I thought he meant the inside of the bomb bay. That would be a cool upgrade, but I don't think there's enough info/reference to make one.  The part you provide in the conversion is fine in my opinion, just some filling and scribing needed as you mentioned.
