ScottsGT
I wonder if it comes with the ground dolly? I'd love to find one for my kit.
Siola
Yes, it comes with dolly + few other new parts. You can look at instruction sheet at specialhobby.eu site. https://www.specialhobby.eu/out/ftp/media/SH32081.pdf Edited October 23, 2020 by Siola
Dave Williams
Clickable link. https://www.specialhobby.eu/out/ftp/media/SH32081.pdf I think the only new parts in the kit are the resin bits for the dummy ramjet. They had previously released the A-2 with the ground dolly and external tanks, but in the original black scheme. https://www.scalemates.com/kits/special-hobby-sh32031-x-15a-2-with-ground-dolly--112539 Edited October 23, 2020 by Dave Williams Stefano, Out2gtcha and Rick Griewski 1
thierry laurent
You're right Dave. They added the ramjet and new decals. The kit was announced some weeks ago but it looks nobody mentioned it on LSP.
ScottsGT
I bought the first boxing of this kit years ago and picked up some resin external tanks off eBay. Looks like the kit tanks come with PE details though.
Rick Griewski
Excellent I missed this whole thing years ago. Not this time Troy Molitor
Rick Griewski
What is a painting strategy for the white ablation? Did the coating have a texture? Would the color change during flight. I am thinking about portraying a post flight bird. I need an X-plane reference it seems.

Note that the reason for the pink color is because the actual ablative was a Pepto-Bismol pink. The white was a coating over that. https://www.sciencephoto.com/media/708674/view/x-15a-2-aircraft-after-speed-record-fligh https://www.dvidshub.net/image/744032/x-15a-2-with-full-scale-ablative-coating-pink-x-15-nasa-ramp Edited October 26, 2020 by Dave Williams Rick Griewski

nichenson
As stated above, the anti-ablation coating was pink. The white is an over coating. I would say any primer with slight texture would work just fine. It wouldn't be too noticeable in 1/32 scale. Lothar and Rick Griewski

Dave Williams
Scalehobbyist is taking orders. Looks like the price has gone up compared to what I remember the last release going for. But, it looks like you get a stand so you can show it inflight. https://www.scalehobbyist.com/catagories/Model_Aircraft/x-15a2-white-ablative-coating/SPH00032081/product.php?kw=X-15 Troy Molitor
