You get as much credit for taking this particular plane on as a WIP here as you do for the execution. You parried all the experts' thrusts with aplomb while building an impressive replica. Bravo.

Thanks for your kind words Basta, glad you are liking it, cheers

Really nice job. Interesting to see how the oil streaks are biased towards the starboard side, must have to do with prop wash.

TRF

thanks  mate,  yes that can be the reason, also the left strut was over pressured because the torque of the prop  made it to suffer more at take off and landing , so it is slightly taller on the left side!

Drop tank has been glued down, early type with metal protector  end, which I should touch up that pointy tip end,  and no monster red stencils, cheers

Hi @Antonio Argudo

By chance I think I saw the above relic in person at the Lashenden Air Warfare Museum a few days ago. In person the dark paint looks black (but faded / dusty with age) - do you think that is in original RLM66?

I am shocked at how dark it is - it seems darker than Dunkelgrau for panzers (which was actually super dark, despite how all the Spanish school and AK crazies depict it!).

I am interested in your expert opinion! :)

Kind regards,

Nick

PS I even asked the guys at the museum, 'are you sure no-one repainted this before you took it in to your collection some 40+ years ago...?'

Hi Nick,  I have not the pleasure to see that relic in person yet, but sure looks very dark indeed!

seems like early 66 was quite dark, I have these relics, from a bf109F windshield  and I dissemble the inner parts that were sandwiched  and showed 66  that never saw the light since 1941 and it is indeed very dark almost black

Here is a comparison with a Ju88 cockpit part in 66 too

I used Nix color sensor to measure the  shade:
