thierry laurent
Useless to say we need a new one! It is one of the topics for which you simply do not understand why this has never been redone by the Japanese companies... Come on! This was the Japanese army zero! I compared both of them many years ago. So, if you have the choice, get the Japanese kit. I have the Hasegawa kit sitting here, and I too wish that they'd redo it. LSP_Mike
RoJ Ki-43? Interesting. That is a -3?
Alain Gadbois
The Revell Ki-43 I have is typical Revell of the time: very basic cockpit, shallow wheel well and raised details. Cylinder detail is very soft. To be frank, it is actually nice looking in the box because the raised detail is quite fine. With photoetch cockpit details it could turn out fine. I would go for a camouflage paint job to avoid rescribing the kit. Of course, a new kit is long overdue! Alain LSP_K2

LSP_Mike
Any idea who did the boxart?

My kit has the same boxart, and it is a Ki43II. The III has the individual exhausts. Alain LSP_K2
spreckair
I thought the surface detail on many of the early Revell kits was really nice. The Spitfire and BF-109 come to mind on nice rivet and fastener detail. The P-40 even has overlapping fuselage panels. But then things went south after the very first kits. Alain Gadbois
The surface detail is what had me interested when I checked it out at a model contest vendor some time back. I had no idea a Revell Ki-43 existed and got it for $20 (Canadian!). I know there is quite a bit of work to do to make it a good model but I am itching to start it since. LSP_Mike
Eduard made a PE set for the Hase kit, so some would be adaptable.
MikeMaben
This one's a -2b. All the printing on the box sides and instructions are in Japanese. I got it at a consignment store many years ago for $3. Edited February 11, 2020 by MikeMaben LSP_Kevin, Rick Griewski and Alain Gadbois
Rick Griewski
My Revell Oscar’s plastic was extremely hard/brittle so I moved it on. I feel that the Hasegawa kit is OK but I am in the camp for a modern kit.

LSP_Mike
RoJ, from '68 ish? I have never seen that boxart, but same markings as the P40/Ki43 kit. So, Revell only did one set of decals for it. Alain Gadbois
