For the past four decades there have been loads of F-16s but the number of LSP kits, in particular, is pathetically small — does Tamiya hate it? Why no skinny F-16A, B/D or even Block 60 with optional love handles? Just mould the Thunderbirds kit in grey, put it in a plain brown box with no decals and we'll buy it. Tony And they could go for the F-16C/N Aggressor boxing option as they did in the 1/48 scale? Solves many wishes...still no double seater though... timvkampen
or I think @Zactoman may start considering actually making the small mouth intake for the regular F-16CJ which is still available in good quantities..and throw in the landing gear and wheel doors as well. Would be marketable I think. Out2gtcha

One thing I want to point out about our intake is that you can use either the Tamiya or aftermarket Main wheel wells. The nose well is cast into the intake and is at a stock level of detail. A common complaint with the Aires set is that the main wheel well is too short....and it is. What I have found is that if you make a slight adjustment to the GT intake where is butts up against the lower fuselage side wall, you can slide the intake back and make it all work out. Very easily to do. Yes, you do create a small 1mm gap where the intake fits up into the lower, but it is something that will never bee seen. I am building a Block 52 right now and did it this way. timvkampen

A full twoseat and MLU conversion is something many have discussed; I had a discussion with Mike from SierraHotel, but it is a bit silent at the moment. There is a market for sure. In Europe alone we are jumping up and down for a proper conversion. Paying 600 USD for the Thunderbirds kit of Tamiya is a bridge too far for many of us So, Looking forward to this, also because the Viper in Europe are slowly being replaced by the F-35... ghatherly
If you like, I can send you pics of my block52 build where I used the adjustment with an Aries wheel well. Mike is a busy guy working on real aircraft. This is just a hobby for him so he is not easy to get in touch with. My D conversion will be made to use the Academy canopy, or the AFV version. If I can get hold of the AFV canopy in quantity that is what will be included. Hoping too that many of those wanting the set will have an Extra Academy canopy from that kit to use. Casting in clear is a none starter in that size, and many don’t like the Vacformed ones. timvkampen
ScottsGT
Academy's do come with two canopies. One clear, one slightly tinted. Eventually I'll have three spares to consider doing some conversions!

Eventually I'll have three spares to consider doing some conversions! Hi Scott, Are you coming to the big contest in Columbia on June 22? I hope that is the case that many who want this set will also have purchased the Academy Kit and are able to use the extra. I am going to make a frame that will allow it to fit that canopy to fit the Tamiya forward fuselage. IT is really a good match right up until the front where the instrument cover is. IF you leave it open then it is never an issue as no one will tell. Trying to fire out if most who want the set will have a ACADemy canopy to use, as I don't wan to spend the money for VAC if no one will use them....just adds to the price. Then again some of us don't mind VAC canopies. Looking for input here as maybe offer the set with no canopy and have the VAC part as a separate option?
