A coat of primer always looks good but reveals faults too.

The flaps of the wing radiators are scratch built from thin plastic sheet because they are rectangular and the kit flaps are trapzoid and could not be used.

Next the rudder was cut off and the fin was lengthed a little.

A second glance.

Next step was the empannage.

The outline of the vertical tail rudder is questionable. I tried to follow some drawings which all differt slightly.

From the right side.

Starts looking like a "Messerschmitt".

For camoulage I decided to use light colors because of the high altitude job the 109 H would have to do.

The pattern follows a drawing I found in "Airclassic".

I am not too happy with acrylics. Very often the sprayguns get stoppages or spit. Problems I never had with my old Pactra enemals. Maybe acrylics tend to dry too fast.

I am glad I didn't throw awy my enamals with the advent of acrylics.

As I know till now the V-54 never carried any guns. She looks a bit naked without them. So I added cowl MG's a "Motorkanone" and MG 151 gondalas for a nicer outfit of the lady.

After a coat with clear acrylics the decals went on without problems. The kit decals of the 21st kit are surprisingly numerous and good.

the decals are sturdy and handle far better than Tamiyas fragile ones. No silvering at all.

Will have to downtone the bright crosses and letters on the fuselage.

The instrument panel will be changed at a later stage of finishing.

the belly before weathering while the crosses got their share of downtoning yet.

It's cold outside. Time to mount a canopy on the O-nine.

The dash board is replaced by a new one at last as are the exhausts. I buyed some Quick-Boost exhausts but I mounted the kit ones sparing the resin items for a more expansive Hasegawa kit.

The front canopy will not be the last word. Found a better one in my spare parts. I will exchange it when I'm back from "Oberschleißheim Air Museum" Model -Fair near Munich in some days.

The new dashboard is showing up a little.

I made little progress last week because of the modelfair in Münich. Maybe you are interested in some pics of the surroundings where we showed our kits.

The 109 got a replacement canopy from the sparebox with better fit.

By the way I sprayed some exhaust stains and added the wing guns.

May be a litte too much but german engines generally produced heavy stains because of high ingrediences of benzol in the gas.

The V-54 has to learn standing on her own feet now.

IMG-08_zpsf3e75475.jpg

The kit wheels looked a bit narrow. I inserted a spacer. Detail on the wheels is allright.

IMG-06_zps3dfc6068.jpg

The wide track solved the notorious pröblems of the 109 landing gear. Unsolved was the ever present buffeting of the weak wings.

Summersault?

I can almost see the checkered flag.

IMG-1_zps50172ebf.jpg

Prop, position lights, pitot tube and ventral tank are at their places.

IMG-2_zpsb20a31c0.jpg

I added the ventral tank mostly for optical reasons because I wanted to close the large gap between the under carriage legs.

IMG-5_zps396f3825.jpg

On the other hand the 109 H1 did some reconnaissance flights over GB. Nothing a 109 could do without extra fuel. so the system had to be tested on V- aircrafts. :innocent:

IMG-4_zps2ba6ffef.jpg

Have to do yet the position light at the tail the middle part of the canopy and the antenna.
