A few parts had still to be cemented on to the kit than it was finished. The wing tanks are scratchbuilt because I ran out of Esc-itanks. Maybe they are 1-2 mm on the short side but this don't bother me. A marine Fury has to be presented at the coast. Therefore rollout was at Lübeck at the baltic sea. in april.

Some tiny pieces missing yet. thought it would be better finishing the decals first.

Next disapointment were the ESCI-decals. Sure they were very old. They won't come off the decal sheet. When 24 hours weren't enough I dried the sheet and scanned it. Printing the sheet on clear decalpaper I I won the fight.

I added some black to the aluminium color and tried to do some panels. the only ESCI-part left is the front shield.

As usual the Marines received the planes which were rejected by the Navy. This means a bare metal finish is the paint of the day. I used Revell Aluminium for the ground color.

The ECCI- kit was very brittle and after this was all I could get out of it, I threw the fuselage away. Now I took the good ole Monogram Sabre and started again. This is what I got from this. I think I made the right choice. Staying with Revell now I took the slatted wings from their Sabredog. It was tedious to saw the arester-hook and catapult hook compartments but scratchbuilding is for the fearless.

Late in 2017 I tried my skills on the ESCI-FJ-2. At first I had a good going but desaster struck me around X-Mass. But see how it happened. The ESCI beast: I got my hands on a NA-drawing of the FJ-2: When I compared the drawing with the Esci Kit it became clear that much sweat had to be spent on this project. There is a good side (tail hook topcs) who shows what you get building it out of box- simply ugly. http://tailhooktopics.blogspot.com/2015/04/esci-148th-fj-23.html Because the Esci blue Fury kit was very britle I used their F86-E kit which is comparable and not so prone to breaking apart. (I believed) I started sawing and sanding. First the vertical tailplane fin has to be moved foreward. Next step:

Hi mates, some time elapsed since the last posting. Well I had to scratchbuild the main undercarriage and all flaps, air brake doors and so on. This took its time. But at last the FJ-4 B is ready for rollout. I think for under 10,-$ it was worth doing it. What about a FJ-2 of the Marines based on another low budget kit on the FJ2/3 from Esci?

Hi Clumsy Dude, I printed the numbers on white decal sheet by filling the background with a dark blue. Have yet to blend in the borders of the decals a little bit more .

Something bad happened to the numbers on the front fuselage. They detoriated with every touch of my fingers. I tried to make new ones on white decal sheet. The modified Numbers Hope it is a real improvement.

X-mass and New year are gone. Time to scratch-build the main undercarriage and the cover panels because neither the FJ-4 parts nor the F-86 parts could be used.A new Canopy has to be build too. The canopy came first. To shorten the story I show you the finished madel:

With some Filler sprayed on the two kits are waiting for some last minute corrections.

Some time has past since my last post. Had to build a F-86K from Kittyhawk not the easiest kit to bulid. But now I'm back on the Furys. Since the last post they got their wings and elevators + some racks for ordonance. The FJ-3 only needs a coat of primer and its midnight blue color. The FJ-4B has to get some more putty and sanding where the lower wing joins the fuselage than it will get the primer treatment too.

Have another look at at the half finished fuselages of FJ-3 and FJ-4: The wings of the FJ-3 have to be rescribed later on.

As allready mentioned I used the Matchbox kit for the FJ-3 too. A comparision between the origional FJ-4 and FJ-3. A lot of putty is needed for the conversion: The modified FJ-4 again: The early FJ-3 with wing slats. Wings are from the Revell Sabredog which were left over from another project: Will be rescribed later.

Hi Typhoonattack, I don't know the Phönix and the Hobbyboss kit. I think they are better than Matchbox but are a lot more expensive.I got the Matchbox for less than five bugs.

A long tine ago I bought two Matchbox Fj-4 kits. Very simple kits without panel lines but very cheap. Always wanting some Furys I started an attempt to reshape what I had into reasonable models. The methusalem: I try to build the two Furys at the same time. TZhe Matchbox kit is missing any panel details nor does it have undercarriage bays. Let's start with the FJ-4. A comparison kit and some rework.: The same applies for the wings:

Next step was some weathering of the base plate, the adding of missing hatches and mounts for the "Schuerzen". Last step was srewing the tank on the plate. The scattered telefone pole is the explanation for the odd position of some bogie wheels. The story of a little scene will be the surrender of the crew to some unseen allies. Therefore the heap of small arms laying on the ground.

Filling the fighting compartment: The scratchbiuld gun. I do not build the gun carriage because you can't see it in the finished model. Closing the hull. First impressions of tank on groundplate.

Ready to install the engine: The radiators didn't come out off the molds very well. Look a little rotten-well "happy accident!"

Next step is applying "Zimmerit". I prefer my own zimmerit because the result is more irregular and you can remove it easily because it is water based..

If you like it another Italeri: Some cutting and some casting in advance. The white castings are Plaster of Paris copies a friend passed to me At last some gear parts which are correct for a PzKw IV. What you get from Italeri. Let's fill and modify the hull. The interior of the Italeri kit almost don't excist. Special care is needed for the casemate.
