jeroenpeters Posted January 22, 2010 Share Posted January 22, 2010 Hi All, Even though I haven't quite finished the 109 yet, and even though I'm still working on the 190, mig3, Wildcat and a Storch... I just dove into my stash, pulled out the 162, got all the AM together I hamstered for this project and deciced to start another project. It will feature a detailed engine, gunbay, etc.. I was going to do my one pretty much OOB as I believe the Revell kit is quite accurate so, with all these A.M. goodies, I'm sure you will turn it into a masterpiece. jeroenpeters Posted January 23, 2010 Author Share Posted January 23, 2010 Ok. Some first progress. The memorial flight website gives great insight in the construction of the front wheel structure. I might build this bird with the nose cone off, but I'll have to overcome the tail sitting problem. I noticed someone here filling the front tyre with lead, but alas I'm using a resin one. jeroenpeters Posted January 23, 2010 Author Share Posted January 23, 2010 Thanks Danny! Lookin' at the memorial flight photo's I noticed an important part was omissed from the Aires offering. The catch-plate that secures the top of the nose gear in place by means of a pin. I made this from thin transparant plastic (so it's rather hard to see in the pic). Lots of sanding, hacking and drilling is needed to get the Aires tub to fit alongside the Eduard gunbay. While hacking away I accidently cut of the entire nose cone. This means I definately will be displaying this bird with the nose off. Had a great day today at the modelshow in Bornem to day with Cees Broere. Met some fellow LSP members there. The tapping would allow you to unscrew the a/c from the base. Also, weight behind the 'pit and in the front end of the engine/nacelle. I just stopped by the LHS on my way back from work for the weekend. Bought all the CMK resin control surfaces. This includes an all resin tail and will add more weight in all the wrong places.
