  2. This one is brilliant, one of the best I have seen.
  3. Hi Pat, The best I could find, maybe you can make something out of it. Rick
  4. Yeah Russ, Still have a poster of a blackbird and a truckload of drawnings of planes we were going to build. All of them available as kits now by the way. Swapping gifts from Holland to San Diego and back, unfortunately never had the chance too meet him in person. Great guy and miss him. Rick
  5. Greetings, Just to prove that I am actually building something so every now and then. It is the Revell MK2 kit, I left out the coffman starter to make it look like a Mk1. And yes I know that it was not the only difference. I really went wild with the weathering after looking at a million pictures and I am still in doubt but it looks ok to me and I did not forgot the underside. Hope you like it. Rick.
  6. Hi Anthony, Looks marvellous as usual, cannot beat that. For someone who has an F4J on the feared shelf, and for now no intensions to finish the damn thing and not want to start allover allthough that is unavoidable, I might have an idea for those big washers. I used a large drilbit to make it some deeper and in the center of that just punched with an gemstone setting tool, it didn't look that bad at all after some practice on a piece of plastic. Hope this makes sence. Cheers Rick
  7. Hi John, Looks great. About the canopy thing. As far as I know they always flew with the hood open or even removed, there was no emergency release so no way to get out when necessary. Look forward to see more. Rick.
  8. Absolutely brilliant love it. About the Connie, a bunch of flowers first?
  9. Hi Woody, Happened to me last januari, sucks. I was lucky one of my co workers recognized what was happening to me and I was rushed to the hospital. In the ambulance they hooked me up to bloodthinner and at first things did not look that good but I made a recovery on my way to the second hospital. I only remember watching my hands and wondering why they did not work, strange feeling to lose control over your body. And I also could not speak but that is something they told me later, I did not have a clue. There was no warning, no pain no nothing I only remember beiing dumbfounded. I am lucky, on medicine to keep the blood fluid and to keep my hartrate down, it turned out to be a problem with my hart that caused the TIA. On my way back but never to normal I am afraid, but I am close so that will do. No use in chasing something that is gone. There is only one thing that really bothers me. I look back to the stroke as having a really bad day, and basicly that is what is was for me (although I scared the living daylight out of everyone in my surrounding.) but suddenly out of the blue I am a heartpatient and a risk. I am a fiberoptic engineer so offshore work is out of the question. It can be a problem even driving a car according to some goverment instances and insurance companies, but the docters gave me an ok for that. I act like nothing happened but it is hard to convince other people from that. How are your experiences with that? As stated by others it is very important to recognize what happens and asap to the hospital. Rick.
  10. Hi Anthony, Sorry to hear about your son, my thoughts are with him I hope he gets better soon. Great work on the Phantom although that seems a bit odd now. Stay strong, Cheers Rick
  11. Thanx for the reply. I have tried to fix the problem with vallejo’s air brush cleaner like you suggested. It looked promising at first but the top layer changed into a sticky surface so I let that dry, also the black paint dissolverd. I let the semi gloss coat dry for two weeks and it looked okay to me. Must have done something wrong, all clear coats give me al lot of trouble I find them hard to airbrush. So basicly I don't know how to procede with this thing, strip it completely means all the decals are gone also and that needs to be replaced which is a lot of effort wasted and a new decal sheet which they do not give away for free either. Choices choices...... Anyone with a solution? Rick.
  12. Satin coat, I guess not glossy enough. How did you solve this issue?
  13. Another update, well sort of..... Decided for a sludge wash, you know some waterbased dark gray paint, water and dishwasher, what can go wrong. Well, bloody everything!!!! It won't come off so I am stucked with this. Looks like s..t Must have done something wrong somewhere so don't know what the next step will be. Don't want to strip the whole thing but for now it is back to the SOD or trashcan...... Happy Easter!!
  14. Build this one for someone in my village. This one crashed in 1945, serial NH 356 Markings are selfmade masks, the roundels are decals from the kit which were suprisingly good. Enjoyed building this one. Rick
  15. Truckloads of decals and she's bored with it. Now it is time for weathering Rick.
  16. Looks great!! Try to get a hold of the Meng Air Modeller issue 67 from august 2016. There is a build in there from Megas Tsonos who scratch builds a Stirling 1/48th scale ( and it is a beauty!!). In this issue he builds the undercarriage. If you need the pictures from those pages let me know. https://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?/topic/235034085-sanger-148-stirling-mki-bf372-ron-middleton-vc-finished-at-last/page/17/ But I think you know this one already. Rick
  17. Great cockpit!!! You probably know this one but it is a great reference book. I used it a lot Rick.
  18. This looks great, beats Evergreen with miles!! I know how it is to feel a soft spot for the Beaufighter! Look forward to more. Rick.
  19. Allright, After only looking here for a long time, and admiring everybody who actually build stuff, I decided it is time to finish something, well finish this thing. Had to dig it up and blow the dust off and see where we were. I decided to do something stupid and attached the gear to get the idea of progress. After that I tried to fix the stars an bar, hope that will come out after a layer of gloss or mat coat Right now I am enjoying a quiet night shift so I have some time to spare. Putting on a truckload of small decals, yellow is hardly visible on white, but it is progress. Still not a clue how to fix the tail, but I will figure that out hopefully. Thats it for now. Cheers Rick
