How about “In Float” mode? One I built earlier this year.

1/32 VF-111 F-4B (F-4B conversion with Folded Wings)
ScottsGT replied to Marcel111's topic in Works in Progress
Very impressive! -
Awesome. If Hobby Boss and Trumpeter did that you would be getting half the kit on some subjects.

I just finished my A model splinter scheme. I used the MRP paint with their Pearl coating to replicate the have glass. From all of my reading, the RAM tape is just painted with the 36170 but no “Pearl” finish over it. At different angles it appears a different color because of light refraction. BTW, when spraying the MRP, IT COMES OUT BROWN! Eek! But turns gray as you build up coats and it cures. EDIT: Forgot to mention the Pearl top coat is just on the bottom and around the canopy.

Coming Soon from Zotz: 1/32 A-20J/K Havocs of the ETO
ScottsGT replied to Dennis7423's topic in Vendors Board
Eli has happily cost me a lot of coin over the years! I am so glad to see he’s still up to his shenanigans of designing such magnificent subjects. This will be ordered as soon as Sprue has them up for sale. -
Outstanding!

Good point. The F-16 has several bulkheads the cardboard went through to provide support. I also added support inside with sprue cut to fit. Where as a prop model will most likely be hollow all the way through. keep in mind though the acrylic rod goes all the way up inside the fuselage. I’ll see if I still have pics of the inside.

I bought the 1/200 Arizona kit years ago and it still languishes in the stash.

I’ve used 5/8” acrylic rod for my F-16 builds. I built in a cardboard receiver tube in the exhaust. The first build doing this. For a prop job a plastic receiver tube and metal rod like the A-10 linked would work great.

New 1/32 Spitfire XIVe conversion on the way
ScottsGT replied to Sage the Owl's topic in LSP Discussion
Looks like y’all got me again. Just ordered the conversion and the decals this morning. Got the Spitfire donor kit back in the spring when someone posted a thread about the Tamiya sale. -

We must be married to the same woman. I wanted to buy her a handgun for Christmas. She said that’s fine, just make sure it’s one I’m willing to be shot with. -
Looks great! I love colorful schemes.

For buyers in the States, Andy’s has it for $170 right now. https://andyshhq.com/products/hk-models-01e039-1-32-a-20g-havoc-over-europe -
Nice build! I thought I was the only one crazy enough to take on this old kit. I built this one about this time last year.

What are you looking for this Black Friday?
ScottsGT replied to Bill M.'s topic in General Discussion
Bill, Andy’s Hobby has the A-20 for $169 right now. -
Happy to report back that Jim is on it! He asked for kit decal measurements so he can accurately match them up.

I’m in the middle of paint and decaling my F-35A splinter using them. I’ve run into a few minor discrepancies that I’m about to contact them about right now. Inflight refueling door markings are incorrect. I’ve corrected that by painting them on. But the biggest issue is the one star and bar insignia that goes on the top left wing. He didn’t include one in the decal set and the kit decals are too light to go over the arctic gray in that area. He also included a diagram where to place the wings stars and bars, but they don’t match up with the photos online. Otherwise the masks work very well. FWIW, one of the masks is incorrect as well, but I didn’t discover this until after I had painted everything. Not too concerned about it.

I really don’t see the need for a battery powered compressor in a modeling environment. But for a nice, small and quiet compressor I went with the Harbor Freight Fortress 1 gallon. Ultra quiet. https://www.harborfreight.com/air-tools-compressors/air-compressors-tanks/1-gallon-135-psi-ultra-quiet-hand-carry-jobsite-air-compressor-64592.html

I’d suggest Tamiya as well. First timers don’t need the frustrations of a bad fitting kit. Spend a little more and enjoy!

Oh boo hoo Carl…How do you think I feel after that Hobby Crap project I just finished? -
I guess I’m a sucker for the F-16 as well. I’ve built 9 already, have one Thunderbird in the stash, 2 Academy single seaters, 3-Academy 2 seater kits and a Tamiya single seat. Oh, and that disaster of the F-16XL kit. My plan is to build the Thunderbird OOB and convert one of the 2 seat kits to a Thunderbird as well. And yes, I’m going to live to 187 yo to get all of this done.

Seriously. You need to pump those numbers up.

Anneal some brass tube and bend into shape. Insert wire into end for tapered area. I use 18 ha. hypodermic needles and tiny music wire for straight tubes.
