  1. Spend a lot of time holidaying in Dorset especially at a place called Moreton. This is just down the road from where RAF Warmwell was. This was at one time, the home of 263sq. Next door to the caravan site we stay at, is a pub which has photos on the walls of the Whirlwinds and Typhoons that were based there. After seeing these photos for the first time, I've wanted to build a 32 scale Whirlwind and a car door Tiffie. Looks like Special Hobby is going to grant me my wish.
  2. Lard no!!!!!! Must be beef dripping. Where's the mushy peas and gravy?
  3. I was going to offer the tail with fillet out of the Tamiya kit free to anybody in the UK but it looks as though people are going to wait for the Revell offering. But then again I could be wrong.
  4. All the photos I've seen of 800sq Mk.47's show them to have EDSG spinners.
  5. Have done a second trawl and come across a company based in the US that has a list of decals for the P-51D. I've asked if they are for the Tamiya kit and now waiting for an answer. If they are for the Tamiya kit, then cost would be £23 inc p&p and tracking to the UK. Never heard of the company before so anybody throw any light on them? http://www.shopdrawdecal.com/SearchResults.asp?searching=Y&sort=3&search=1+32+p%2D51D&show=100&page=1
  6. Looking to start on the Tamiya P-51D Mustang very soon and the a/c that I would like to build is 44-72218 WZ-I Big Beautiful Doll. Have done a trawl on the web and cannot find any company that does these decals. Eagle Cals did produce some but finding them is like finding hens teeth and would they fit the Tamiya kit? So thinking cost wise, is it worth going down the custom made route or start looking at other a/c markings.
  7. Have one of each of the F.6 and FGA.9 kits. Plan is to do XF383 F.6 12sq wrap around camouflage and a red spined XF418 FGA.9 of RAF Brawdy TWU. These are all future builds though.
  8. According to the flightpath web site they have a ladder/platform and FOD set for both the T.1 and T.1A kits. The detail/conversion sets have been listed for a good few years but as of yet, nothing has appeared. https://www.djparkins.com/home.php?cat=271
  9. With Revell bringing out their kit, I wondered which kit manufacturer gives the best offering. According to reports that I've read, the Dragon kit can be counted out so this leaves Revell, Tamiya or Zoukei Mura. Not bothered about the prices just the build and fit.
  10. How long should you give it between coats and what's the drying time before applying decals?
  11. Don't see many of these built in any scale. Looking forward to seeing her finished.
  12. Which scheme are you doing? If doing Donner Wetter the instructions do not show that the cowling has a thin white ring around the front. I have a book which contains photos of10(N) Sq, C flight at various times and the white ring can be easily seen. HTH
  13. Just imagine XX119 1:32 scale. One I would definitely do if the decals became available https://i0.wp.com/www.aeroresource.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2016/09/Sepecat-Jaguar-XX119-Dm3.jpg?resize=496%2C331
  14. I'm getting sick and tired of asking for these, so Mr Tamiya take note. Blackburn Buccaneer EE/BAC Lightning (a decent one unlike the Trumpy offering) EE/BAC Canberra (especially a PR.9) Jaguar And just to keep our friends on the wrong side of the pond happy Lockhead Lightning
  15. My local hobby shops only stock humbrol or tamiya so any other brands have to bought online so I thought I may give mig a go
  16. Thanks for the replies. Have just bought the Takom King Tiger with full interior and the colour call outs are all mig ammo.
  17. Anybody used mig ammo acrylics. If so, are they any good?
  18. Wonder if they could acquire some bits from the RNAS Yeovilton museum's Sea Vixen XS590.
  19. Just found this about 'Foxy Lady' on the web. Here's keeping my fingers crossed it all ends well and she will eventually be in the air again where she belongs. https://www.navywings.org.uk/news-blog/sea-vixen-update-20th-june/
  20. Taken with a hand held camera while flying in formation with them, makes you sick with jealousy.
  21. Here's a bit more info regarding the emergency landing. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-4549964/Last-Sea-Vixen-plane-does-emergency-landing-show.html
