  1. Suppose i have to weigh up the cost of the conversion over just saving and buying the Tamiya kit
  2. Thanks for posting the pics. I'd love to get one of these (and a GR1 if they do it). I would defo build one of my old XV(R) Sqn Tonkas and a XIV Sqn GR1
  3. Just a quick question to you guys. What do you think about Revell's (old mould) Mosquito? Is it a decent enough kit to build? I would like to do the Bomber version and also the Fighter Bomber version. If i go down the FB version route (cannot afford Tamiya prices), what extras would i need to make it one? Obviously i'd need some sort of nose correction kit. But is there any other corrections needed?
  4. Not sure why you gave my comment a 'confused' emoji Jack?
  5. Great actor. Name of the Rose and Zardos always reminds me of him.
  6. Training pilots on XV(R) Sqn had to learn to land the aircraft should the HLWSCU (High Lift Wing Sweep Control unit) fail. This is the unit that controlled the wing sweep angle amongst other things Just as well really as i saw one aircraft land with this problem whilst we were detached to RAF Kinloss when RAF Lossiemouth's runway and Sqn aircraft pan was being relayed. And whilst the pilot had the ability to control the wing sweep angle. It was also dictated by the airspeed so would move automatically to compensate.
  7. Spitfire Mk.IX with out a doubt. The best looking Spitfire before they spoiled it with later versions.
  8. This F8 kit is a cracking kit to build. Just like their ST19/21 kits. Plus the advantage of so much AM too
  9. Depends on the version you want to do. If it's anything other than an A8 then Hasegawa is the only real one you can go for. Obviously the lower versions (A1,2,3,4) then the PCM is the only game in town. The Hasegawa kits are nice but dated and like rocking horse poo to find at a decent price and even the Revell re-boxings command the price too. Revell (new) kits are great for the price even if a little more work is required
  10. Stuff the PTO kits. Bring back their catalogue of Fw190 A5/6/7 kits. They are like hens teeth to find and command stupidly high prices on evilbay and Scalemates.
  11. Cheers again David. I'm going to do "Red 2" anyway. I like the idea of having all the Fw190s there. I suppose with no definitive pictures a bit of poetic licence is allowed
  12. Cheers David. Shame there is no 'proper' picture of "Red 2". I am going to try and do all the JV44 Fw190s and a Me262.
  13. I've been reading up on JV44 aircraft as i'm planning a build of them. All i can find for the Fw190 D9 is information on "Red 1" and "Red 13" and for the D11 "Red 4". But according to Fw190 Vol.3 by Richard Smith and Eddie Creek, there were five D9s for the four pilots (Sachsenberg, Wubke, Faber and Hofmann). Is there any information regarding the other "missing" Fw190s?
  14. I've been trying to find pictures of the area behind the BMW 801 in the Fw190 A/F/G series aircraft. I'm looking to try and detail the area from the rear of the engine to the cockpit/MG bay firewall. Anyone have some pics to help me out?
  15. Bang goes my savings. Fw190 heaven
  16. Didn't know that. Just seen their aircrew coming up for sale on evilbay quite a lot.
  17. Reheat do some RAF Tornado (and F-14 & F-104) aircrew https://www.scalemates.com/kits/reheat-models-rh016-raf-tornado-crew--992872
  18. Hate is a strong word. I don't hate the later Mk's. I just don't think they had that 'zing' that you get with the Mk.IX and below (plus the sound of a Merlin engine still gives me goosebumps)
  19. Only up to the Mk.IX. After that they turned ugly lol
  20. As a kid growing up i was always into the main Battle of Britain fighters and in particular the Hurricane (because it achieved more kills and was the underdog). I still love the Hurricane. But ever since i've read about Sturmbock/Rammjager Fw190s i have been hooked on them. They look mean and have a good amount of firepower. I do have a love for other subjects such as Bf110, Ju88, Lancaster, Mosquito, Beaufighter, Tornado GR1/4 and finally Su-27 Flanker B (ever since seeing the Russian Knights). But even though i love the other aircraft, i'll always return to the Fw190.
  21. Whilst i have no intention of doing Pastor John out of money from his excellent resin conversion. I would LOVE to see a modern G2/G4 kit available. I cannot for the life of me understand why companies haven't addressed this issue.
  22. He177 just isn't popular enough to be viable imho. A 217 J1/J2 nightfighter floats my boat every time. And the 17Z would be great for BoB.
  23. God think of the prices if they did though. Look how much less Revell are popping out the Dragon Bf110 for. Might make the kits more mainstream.
