I wonder if the kit lines will sell out quicker because they are selling through retail. Do they order more to be produced or just have a set amount? The W.29 and green tail trilogy early sell outs seem to indicate one run only...?

The Green Tail Trilogy was a very limited production run for whatever reason. It wasn't produced in the same numbers as the regular WnW kits.

The BR1 Camel sells really well so I wouldn't be surprised if that is the first of the Camel kits to sell out (whenever that happens). However that is just my opinion purely based on the sales I see and not on any 'whispers in the wind'.

  2. I am guessing each panel was done individually, did you apply pieces larger than the panel then trim them back when they were dry or were they cut exactly to size before being applied?

  3. What a day that was! Manic doesn't come close, 12 hours from me finding out about the existence of the kit (from this very thread) to having it ordered, uploaded onto the BlackMike Models website and the first 12 pre- orders taken!

Not bad considering I was actually at my day job at the time and having to do everything from my phone (yes, I am a Neanderthal technophobe).

So that is one of the missing numbers from the Camel sequence now made an appearance (32073), what do we think 32075 is going to be? My money is on it being a post war Dolphin further on down the road.

p.s. Thanks to LSP for providing me with such a fun packed day yesterday :)

On the ZM website the price is 17800 JPY which is about £120, but obviously they had to pay to get them into the UK.

I had seen that. I think the shipping, Tax and the Post Office Hi Jack....erm 'Handling charge' etc will take the £120 up to the £172 mark or near enough.

We'll find out when they arrive in the UK I guess.

  5. I'm really enjoying this build, some great tips for those of us who haven't yet built a Wingnuts kit but want to at some point in the future. I will wait and see how the rigging looks before making rash statements about breaking one of these out of stock and making my own start though :)

  6. Yeah, it was £151 - I also bought the additional sets... expensive in a way, but the hours of enjoyment compared with football/theatre/film/bands it works out far cheaper. Great kit.

That is exactly the way to look at a purchase like the larger ZM kits, it's all about the hours of fun that the kit will provide. When you look at them that way they are actually good value for money (I'll keep trying to convince myself of that anyway :) )

  7. For us Europeans, the only game in town for ordering WNW kit's at a fair price is true WETA or Hannants.

Not so, WnW have done a deal with a new European Distributor based in Germany, they in turn have opened up to Retailers (Including BlackMike Models) throughout Europe. You'll now find you have a lot more choices when it comes to buying WnW kits. Hopefully this will not only be good news for the Customers but also for Wingnut Wings themselves.

The first shipment for the new Distributor is due to arrive in Hamburg in the middle of March.

  8. I think people are somewhat missing the point with the EduArt range - they're really for collectors, rather than builders. If you want to build the kit, then you can get the plastic and resin etc. cheaper by buying them elsewhere. If you want to collect the kit, then you get the model plus the poster and are safe in the knowledge that you own one of only 999 that exist.

Mind you, that's easy for me to say as my kit was free...

I think you have hit the nail on the head with these being aimed at collectors rather than builders. Despite the cost they have sold really well and are just about out of stock with Retailers everywhere (however in this case there were 2000 Dottie Mae kits produced as opposed to the other EduArt releases produced so far that were limited to 999).

Duncan B (who has one of each so far!)

  9. That is a beauty. I have had the Heinz Bar boxing of this kit in my stash for years but have never had the courage to start it (the same can be said for all the bigger kits I have in fact). This is just the kind of inspiration I need to get going with larger scale aircraft, thanks for posting.

  10. I must say your pricing of £80 is far, far more reasonable than I've seen elsewhere.

For me though, the kit looks like a very slightly improved profipack. And I'd never pay anywhere near £80 for an Eduard Profipack.

Thanks for your feedback on my pricing Dean. I probably could charge a little more and still sell this kit but I feel that a fair price is important in gaining trust and custom from within the modelling community.

I have all the current EduArt releases in stock and have to say that I was (and still am) excited by this series of releases from Eduard as they appeal to the 'Collector' side of me as much as the 'Modeller'. The addition of the A2 Prints of the specially commissioned box art and the very limited edition nature (999 kits for the 1/48 releases and 2000 for this particular kit) is what differentiates these releases from the Profipack kits Eduard produce. I agree that those reasons alone will not be enough to tempt the main stream modellers who might not have a particular connection to these subjects to part with their cash but I'm sure that is not the market that Eduard have identified for this exclusive series of releases.

(Due to demand my Distributor halved my allocation of this kit and I have now sold out.)

The kit looks great and the photo reference book is excellent .

    Duncan

I only wish it was the actual box art but it is just Eduard's ad photo from their web site. I'm pretty sure the box art is the same here as across the pond

Would be great to have the big Sikorsky in 32nd scale but it surely would have been way too big for my display cabinet and a bit more then $59.99

    Peter

Thanks for clearing that up Peter, shame it isn't the box art as it's very eye catching.

I will have them in stock early next week.

  12. Five in stock at Hannants.

Wonder how difficult they'll be to shift? From what I've seen, there is certainly interest in the subject, but any knowledgeable 1/32 modeller knows that the £100+ price tag - and that the cheaper end of the scale - is an awful lot of money for an already available Hasegawa mold & some bits of AM.

I suspect they will shift them quite quickly despite the price tag. I have just had my allocation cut in half by my Distributor due to "Huge demand" (and have pre-orders on half of them already).

Get them where you can for whatever you can afford if you want one as they really won't be around for very long I suspect.
