So what if the Camel, DR1 and SPAD have been done by others.....WNW would be the ones to have ! I wish they would forge ahead with these. Joe66

That is good news. When it comes to books and modern technology, I am decidedly "Old School".... I like the solid printed matter that I can hold in my hands. Electronic formatted material, though convenient, is just not the same and does not fill the bill for me. I have however, considered scanning my library to disc as a backup, if I ever get a spare 5 or 6 years to do it ! Joe66

Wow....as others have said...the build...the finish...simply amazing !.......do some B&W pics against a good backdrop, and a little touch grainy ( for period effect ), and you wouldn't be able to tell it was a model ! Joe66

Stunning looking model ! Great job !! Joe66

Like it, Yes I do !....And the figure painting looks great to me. Get a shot ( black & white ) of the pilot from ground level, with ac as background and it would look just like a Sanke photo ! Well Done. Joe66

Yes, put me in the B-24 camp ! And a PBY Catalina ( that won't cost me a arm a leg and a kidney ) ! Joe66

Please let us know how those work out for you....! Since I will be setting up my new workshop in the next month or so, I have decided to go entirely water-based as far as paints go. The Model Air line is not one that I have tried yet. The description sounds promising, especially since I work with a lot of resin model kits/parts. Thanks for posting that info and I look forward to your review. Joe66

That was very creative and very cool ! Joe66

...... Lol, for the very same reason i took those photos...had to see for myself ! Joe66

1 more photo for good measure...this time with a "fuselage" in the mix. Note how there is now a larger offset between the shadow on the ground and that of the vertical "fuselage" surface.....seemingly disjointed but all originating from the items in the foreground , or nearest to the sun....

This photo might help to illustrate what I'm saying.... Joe66

Shadow of the undercarriage struts are in the large red circle (L), and again, the wing strut shadow as projected onto the ground in the small red circle ®. The strange angularity is due to the angle of the sun as the light hits the solid objects in it's path and projects the resulting shadows on both horizontal and vertical surfaces beyond. It can create shadows that can be difficult to interpret, especially in an old black & white photo. If you were to go outside late in the day and hold up a stick, so that the resulting shadow was cast upon the ground and a vertical wall surface, you can see this effect...the shadow would not be a continuous straight line, but where intersecting the vertical surface, it too would project vertically and thus appear to create a shadow with an angle, even though the object was not. Joe66

My vote is shadows.....the reason. You dont see shadows on the fuselage top is because I dont think you can see the top from that angle. Everything from the angle of the dark lines and the angle of the sun....supports shadows. I'm 99.9% certain of it. Joe66

Awesome ! I look forward to seeing it when it's done !

Wow...who'da thunk it ! Clever idea. For me personally though, painting and weathering is a big part of my enjoyment allowing me to use my skills and creativity to acheive the desired effects. Joe66

That is good news. Beats the old days...back when I used to enlarge the lozenge pattern drawings, make a dozen copies and cut out stencils by hand to airbrush each of the colors in turn ! Of course, as tedious is that was, the look of it beat any decals until the stuff from Aviattic came into being. For oddball stuff though you can still stencil the pattern and spray it onto sheets of decal film and get a great look. Joe66

For you detail lovers and Mossy fans...I ran across this site...how about a faithful 1:1 scale 'model' ? http://www.mosquitorestoration.com/index.shtml Fascinating project ! Joe66 -
HK Mossie, first sight...... WIBBLE!!!!

This about how much detail I need for the engine.... Mossy's are just cool no matter what variant ! Joe66 -
Oh yeah ! Love the plane...love the model you've built and I really love the weathering ! Joe66

Ron, I think maybe that source has a typo ?... The Nieuport 21 was based on the 17's airframe according to many sources. And from what I have read, the engine and cowling were about the only real changes. The photographic evidence is pretty conclusive as well. Joe66

Awesome spray booth ! I really like the way you put all that together...especially the 'weather station' add ! Joe66

Very nice looking model ! Really like the weathering. Joe66
