  1. Phoenix 2018.... hmmmm...... might have to make it down there for that. Joe
  2. You have made a couple of absolute gems ! Fantastic work !! Joe
  3. Nice work Jim ! I've been looking forward to seeing you do this one since you mentioned it a while back. I like your approach to the fuselage. Joe
  4. Bravo Jim ! Mighty fine job on your build ! A real beauty !! Now that's Model Building Joe
  5. Ahh, the age old complaint of 1/35 ! I have to agree with others in that...while Tamiya 1/35 scale kits are quite nice, ...1/32 was already around and established ..why in the heck did he upset the apple cart ! To original post : you can sometimes find a few decent figures by searching for 54mm....though most of those listings are toy soldiers. I would like to get more 1/32 resin figures into the market, but it is difficult finding a digital sculptor for the process of making 3d printed masters and then molding those to cast in resin ( to keep the price of production and retail reasonable ) Joe
  6. I'll be watching this closely...I have the kit and some aftermarket stuff....I intend one day to build the bird I flew as a gunner on ( HH-60 of the 305th RQS ) ....I need to search out a decal sheet yet... Good luck with your build - I'm really looking forward to following along ! Joe
  7. Look where the wire goes outside on the edge...not lined up straight. This was really bad on the Macchi kit.
  8. Dirk, Nice work on the Yak ! Looking forward to seeing this project when finished !! Joe
  9. Great looking armor builds Gaz ! Joe
  10. ....not mentioned, but shown, is that some of the reinforcement wires in the struts are sticking out due to misplacement during casting ... This was the same situation with some of the struts in a Macchi M5 kit that was given to me. It renders the struts un-useable, and the modeler must make new ones. I understand that once notified, HpH will send replacements, but QC should catch that before they are shipped. For the kind of money spent, the modeler should not have to deal with these flaws and issues IMHO. Joe
  11. Very well done, beauty of a model...weathering and finish look perfect ! Joe
  12. From a "put in my display case" perspective, I have to agree with Kevin.....Anyone at least familiar with a Mig 15 recognizes the Trumpy kit as such...even if it is way out of whack.... And for the chap that chucked one in the garbage....for shame ! At least donate it to a young modeler who may not have the funds for such a kit and let him or her enjoy it. Joe
  13. Really outstanding model and finish ! Joe
  14. Cartoon GB would probably be a lot of fun ! No stress about the rivet count ! ... LOL Joe
  15. Yes ! I like what you are doing Jim...all of it - from subject matter to CAD work to printed parts ! Keep it going and keep learning ! This ( and your future projects ) are going to be amazing. When looking at 3d printer resolution, there are many factors.... My associate and I just acquired a new large format FDM type printer ( over 19"x19"x19" print area ), and are getting it dialed in.... this photo ( below ), in this case a Vase was chosen to see how it would handle overhang without supports. The "fins" on this are printed in two layers of .4 mm and almost at a 45* angle ! For a machine costing less than a grand, we are seriously impressed ! Does it produce a completely finished model with all the panels lines ?, No, but it can certainly get you well ahead of the game in many ways !! Joe
  16. Beautiful finish ! I'm sure your client will be very happy with the model. Joe
  17. SirBlueHenry, If you are not familiar with these tools, have a look on the internet for pictures / info: Jewelers torch ( if flame soldering is your thing ) Tubing notcher - I think you could whip up a miniture version, for fish mouthing the smaller brass tubing Bicycle frame building jig - again, make something akin to this for miniature work and your soldering of frames will be easy peasy ! ( the joints for your a/c framework are somewhat similar to the lugged construction of a steel bicycle frame ) Best wishes for your project ! Joe
  18. Wait a minute....they have "lasers" that print now ? Joe
  19. Really nice work ! In 1/12 scale, it might be wise and look really good to sleave per the prototype, or at least pin all the joints... with the right pins and "fish mouthing" of the tube ends, you may not need any fancy jigs. Good luck and I look forward to seeing you project ! Joe
  20. When I did this type of thing for photo etching in the past, the films were actual film negatives and positives. The original artwork was drawn over scale, black ink on white background, and reduced in the darkroom process. Joe
  21. You will like the full core approach results much better. * Remember our discussion about the ailerons * You might want contact cement over most of the surface, and use the CA at the final closure. If the core is well sealed and made smooth and glossy, the contact cement will hold very well ( best if both the core and the inner wing skin are sprayed with adhesive, vs brushing on or rolling ) .... Cheers ! Joe
  22. Glad to see you start the build thread Jim ! This baby will be Beariffic ! Woohooo...Go Jim Go !! Joe
