  1. Very nice build, the winter camo looks outstanding.
  2. Very nice and colorful build!
  3. Excellent figure Quang. You nailed the leather jacket perfectly.
  4. Thank you Maru, that project turned out pretty nice all around.
  5. Hi Brett, beautiful build all around. I have this kit and following your build has been very educational (as well as a pleasure)! I have read that warm water gently rubbed on with a Q-Tip removes the carrier glue remnants. I have just started building the HGW Bf 109 E-7 Limited Edition that I purchased late last year and will be using HGW's wet transfers for the first time; so I have been reading a lot about using them successfully.
  6. Beautiful work Dale. The weathering looks very good.
  7. Very skilled scratchbuilding and vacuforming, absolutely master class.
  8. Beautiful build and excellent photography as well.
  9. Very nice work. The weathering is very well done.
  10. Hi Kev, yes you can and thank you for the kind words!
  11. Thank you very much guys. Bob, the Uschi van der Rosten decals look very good and simulate wood nicely. They are a bit fiddly to use, understandable because of how thin they need to be given their purpose. Mongoose, I took some risk orienting the eyes straight ahead, but managed to get away with it. Normally I have a figure looking slightly left or right as this helps avoid the dreaded "pop eye" look. However this figure's expression fits well with the eyes looking ahead so I took the plunge. 12. I finally completed the base for the Albatros. It took a bit longer then usual because we have gotten a lot of rain the past several days meaning high humidity. So it took a lot longer for the various coats of stain and varnish to dry. Overall the build turned out ok. I made a few mistakes, most notably simulating the different shades of wood on the propeller, which I airbrushed far too straight. But overall the aircraft looks the part and the figure turned out pretty well. The scene could be entitled "Post flight", as it shows the mechanic facing away from the cockpit area with barograph in hand. I will be pausing my WWI aircraft builds, because I have decided to build the HGW Limited Edition of the Bf109 E-7. Based on the thread concerning HGWs wet transfers perhaps working best if one does not let them sit in storage too long I thought it best to get a move on and construct the kit. After I complete that project, I plan to build the WNW Pfalz DIIIa. I am going to try out the Gaspatch turnbuckles to see if I am able of using them to do a decent job making the rigging look better than I did with the DV and DVII. Enjoy the photos!
  13. Hello I used Aviattic decals on my two recent builds of the Fokker DVII and Albatros DV. On the Fokker I sprayed the surfaces to be decaled Tamiya Buff thinned with Mr. Color Lacquer thinner. I sprayed the base coat with a 40/60 mix of Tamiya X22 thinned again with Mr. Color thinner spraying two medium followed by a "flash" coat of a 20/80 ration X22/Thinner to get a nice smooth gloss coat. On the Albatros DV I used Tamiya White Primer (decanted and applied with an airbrush) and gloss coated it using the same method as the DVII. I think the results were pretty good. Ernest
  14. Thank you for the information guys. You are both correct that the joins of the different wood would be curved. I made the mistake of making them straight, having never tried to simulate a wooden prop through painting. Live and learn!
  15. Thank you Andy. I normally do a certain amount of weathering to my builds but I liked the looks of the simulated varnished wood so much I decided to go with very minimal weathering.
  16. Wow, that thing is big! You are doing a great job on it.
  17. Master level work as always John. The engine is very beautiful.
