  1. Alclad standard (not hi shine) are very durable. Definitely no issue with masking or any kind of wash.
  2. That review talks about the laquer based acrylics, not the water based ones.
  3. Both AK extreme metal and Alclad are very good paints for metallic finishes. From my own experience, it depends of what you're looking for : -If you want to weather it with enamel wash, just keep using the alclad, as the AK are enamels and wont like the enamel thinner of the wash. However, if you want something strong, you should avoid the Alclad hi shine finishes (chrome, polished aluminium, airframe aluminium) as they are very fragile and dont like the enamel thinner either. To sum up, the Alclad standard paint (aluminium, white aluminium, dural, dark aluminium, and so on...) are just great and you can still get a very nice and reallistic metallic sheen if you use a gloss black undercoat. Example : -If you want something more shiny, you better use the AK, Chrome or polished aluminium as they are stronger than the Alclad Hi Shine range. But you can highlight the panel lines only with a water base wash like UMP or Florry. However, on a highly polished model, it's not really a problem as the panels almost hi-light themselves. For a B-29 like finish, it would be a good match. Example : In my opinion, the Alclad standard range would be a better match for a B-17G, as those aicraft were never really polished like the B-29's, but always somewhat oxyded. Hope this helps !
  4. I've read some good feedbacks about it somewhere, and the reviewer said he really prefered it than Vallejo, and he did not encounter any spraying issue. However, i'm really not a fan of the water based acrylics, for various reasons. I never succeed to get something right with them, so i think i'll keep using the laquers. If you try sending an email to MRP, i'd be curious of the answer, or even if you can have an answer because i cannot have one myself.
  5. AIM-9B : AIM-9D : AIM-9E : AIM-9J : AIM-9M : Dont know if it's 100% accurate, though...

  7. Great ! The detailing job is just impressive. Outstanding seat, indeed... The fabric texture is perfect for the scale.
  8. $25 for strong brass landing gear is not that expensive compared with $15 craponium landing gear that collapses ten days after the model is finished.
  9. I just ordered two sets today. Thanks a lot for that great product responding to a real need.
  10. The fuselage is made of wood, so it's all sanded smooth... But dont worry, i think that most people wont notice it ! (actually i only noticed it because i'm also building it !)
  11. Very nice and clean build ! I know it's too late now, but the seam on the fuselage should be filled...
  12. Thanks ! Too bad for me, i've ordered one, with resin exhaust and yahu IP's. The Tamiya replacement parts may be a good idea. i will have a look at ebay, i've already ordered some tamiya spares like F-4 metal landing gear.
  13. Hi, Does anybody know if the Squadron vac canopy (designd for Hasegawa) would fit the new Revell kit? Thanks ! Nicolas
  14. Thanks a lot for those nice advices, and for the pictures. Very inspirational work !
  15. Hi Quang, Very nice job on the pit ! I'm also starting this build with the Eduad PE. I found that the Eduard PE radio is oversized and dont fit the kit frame. Did you have the same problem? (i had to cut the frame and add some 0.5mm sheet to spread it a bit)
  16. I only use a foam block from a HDD package. It works well. But i'm considering buying one of those jigs.
  17. Great news ! love than little aircraft, though i've never heard about that manufacturer.
  18. I try to always change the subjects i'm building, or the type of kit. Sometimes a rather simple Revell kit OOB, sometimes a conversion, sometimes a big jet with of aftermarket, sometimes a resin kit, and so on.... I think it's less boring than always building the same kind of kit. But it goes up and down. Sometimes i am at my bench, and i barely cut a few parts of the sprue in a whole day, instead i watch videos on youtube, or i read some books... Another day i can make a lot of progress on a specific build.
  19. Wow, William you're my hero.... It's one of my favourite aircraft of that era, and your model is absolutely awesome...
  20. As for these new resin instrument panels from Eduard, i'd like to see from closer, but so far i think Yahu dashboards look better. And regarding the PE eduard panels accuracy, i use them when i only have them at hand, but i usually prefer Aires PE + film. Yahu, indeed the instruments are more accurate and crispy, not to say perfect :
  21. I wish i had only bought some ! I have two kits in my stash, all inner details resin available, but i only miss the Zacto canopy and intake corrections....
  22. Zacto resin parts are not the cheapest, but i was NEVER disappointed. Actually i think it's the best resin parts i've ever seen.
