  1. Big hand to LSP_Ray. Thanks for the PM. Didn't see this thread til recently so thanks a bunch for the F-117 deccles. FighterSweep, congrats! if you're listening in, I'll get your address in PM. Might be a little later yet, til I can get it away. Awesome job from you all, and congrats to all the winners. Ross
  2. Sheesh. I suppose it's the Matchbox (not Revell!) 1/32 SBD and Hasegawa 1/32 A-4E. Bought them from a mate in the Airy Farce, back around 1987 . . . SBD requires a resin engine and PE. I need to design PE for the Kahu mod on the A-4 still.
  3. Had to FF/REV more than once, Paul. I love the ease with which you approach things. I'm looking forward to trying this occult CA and Dental Resin sorcery. Nice touch to shorten the fuz rather than the nose section. I like your flexibility about mods, depending upon kit requirements. Very soothing style, a pleasant contemplation time in my day. Happy New Year to you and yours. Kind regards
  4. You're not far off, Tony. dH used the Mosquito nose for the basis of the T.11. The irony is, I like the compact shape of the FB.5/9. It's a shame the cockpit detail is lost under the canopy, at 1/48th scale. But I did enjoy working on this kit, to discover the minutiae of the trainer. Regards
  5. Impressive work. Always a fan of good figure-painting. Do you still paint figures? Regards

The rest involved either micro-surgery or chisel-and-double-cut file. 7. This has been a joy and marvel to watch, Peter. Only 18 months? that's speed-building! Love your attention to detail and refusal to settle for so-so. Absotively gorgeous monument to the art of kit-bashing. Chapeaux bas, monsieur. p.s. Feel kinda proud, too, that the pilot has my family name. ;-)
  8. I am most intrigued by this discussion. Some stuff hitherto unknown has proven most valuable. As I have two of the Revell kit I thought a scenic route through 'Mod Country' was an idea. I tackled a basic fix to the tilt-up problem. What sayest thou of my approach? 3 Radome Nose Mods 01 by scap.design, on Flickr 3 Radome Mods 02 by scap.design, on Flickr 3 Radome Mod Profile Match by scap.design, on Flickr 3 Radome Mods Bottom 01 by scap.design, on Flickr 3 Radome Before_After 02 by scap.design, on Flickr 3 Radome Before TPT 02 by scap.design, on Flickr 3 Radome Before TPT 03 by scap.design, on Flickr 3 Radome Before TPT 01 by scap.design, on Flickr 3 Radome After TPT 01 by scap.design, on Flickr 3 Radome After TPT 04 by scap.design, on Flickr Did I say I love this hobby? Feel rather chuffed with the result. all's said and done. It will do for drill purposes. I will tolerate the slightly squashed canopy look. One can become obsessed with accuracy, so I don't believe modifying canopies is important. Down that path madness lies. The obvious question must be - will I make resin copies? Regards

    Oops.

Man, rookie error. That's not a holier-than-thou moment though. Ever put wings on upside-down . . .? yiC Rossky
  10. Pocher. Beautiful kits. I did the F40 waaayyy back. Eventually sold it during a purge of 'excess'. Would readily buy it again. Regards
  11. Excellent work. One does not tire of Tomcats. I, too, saw the build by 'Sweety'. Even bookmarked his WIP thread. So, you're following in some big boots, Fabio. Regards rossky
  12. Have you seen Zone Five's FAQ threads? http://www.zone-five.net/forumdisplay.php?f=8 Might be something of help in there. Regards
  13. Nice collection of articles here: http://www.bigscalemodels.com/links/links.html Scroll down to 11th row (?), centre, for "Weathering Metal". A most excellent STS on the Su-30 burner cans. Click on "Download PDF', qiucker than trawling through the listed sites. Hope it helps. yiC
  14. That there's some mad-crazy stuff. Totally converted to deck dios now. I'll have to give it a go for my 1:48 -B model. Love your whole process, incl. the snafus. Failure is the best teacher. Regards
  15. Well, that's certainly a mystery, Max. I've since tried linking pics direct but it seems Photobucket doesn't want to play. Shall have to investigate. Regards
  16. Have you seen Graham Simons' book? I've scanned it here. Maybe there's some useful stuff. http://s4.photobucket.com/user/Riskyrossco/library/Article%20dH%2089?sort=9&page=1 The Rapide for me must be dH's prettiest pre-war design. I wouldn't mind a LSM. Regards
  17. Stone me, Peter. The painting elves must have been wearing optivisors. Look in the dictionary under 'busy' there's a pic of that office. Regards
  18. Gentlemen, I'm having a time trying to find clear shot sof the radio rack for the TR and components behind the pilot. There's a bunch of stuff on FB/NF variants, even later bomber/PR types. But early bomber variants, squat. I want to finish up a wee 'project'. Regards
  19. I've been patiently waiting for updates. Good to see work proceeding. Very keen on seeing how these upgrades will look on the finished thing. Bravo!
  20. Soooo, it CAN be done. :-) I'll remember that for my Revell kits. Cheers
  21. Ya done good with that kit. Always a pleasure to see DE/DG on a Spit. Regards
  22. Well done, Kike. Your skills are well worthy of posting and it is very uplifting to hear that you are enthusiastic for modelling despite the limitations in your area. Thank you for taking the time to show us your impressive work. Don't worry about your English. This is a great group of guys who are interested mostly in model-building so, whatever you do, we're happy simply to enjoy the skill of another modeller. I trust you will have fun being here. Regards
  23. Nice. A Ferrari. The F-40 is still my dream car. Although, I would settle for a 355. I have four Tamiya cars, 3 X F1. In a fit of enthusiasm I dragged out the non-F1, a Testarossa, last month. I've had a burr under the blanket to cut open and detail the driver's door. Yes, the Testarossa is considered a 'dog' of the Red Stable. I love it for the styling. Ron. if you know a guy in a car body shop see if they'll fill a small, empty paint bottle with auto clear coat for you. It's very thick and a little definitely goes a long way. Car guys have almost as many tricks as the armour culture! I use a lacquer gloss clear, courtesy of a mate who's an ex-body finisher. I cut it with 1500-grit then use auto polishing paste. It comes up like glass. Picked up the idea from a Fuji TV series, Plamo Tsukurou, all found on YT. Far cheaper than buying the 'Professional Finishing' products out there, too. Regards
  24. Boy, I know that feeling. If nothing else tickles, those rivets and bolts are the dog's avocados for me. But, then, everything else IS awesome. I'm patiently waiting for you to begin the engine work . . (dum-de-dooo) Regards
