phasephantomphixer
Just curious, anyone know what, where all the F-117's have ended up after decommissioning? Did they get packed into buildings SR-71 style, or are they cooking out in the desert? Get chopped up?
Guest Smitty44
Some of were destroyed, and some stored at Tonopa. Although the birds that were stored were mothballed for possible future use, I understand the Air Force may have disposed of them all by now. phasephantomphixer

Daniel460
That is such a waste. We build so many planes only to have them obsolete in a few years! And the B-52 keeps on flying..... Dan Swatto

Gigant
Can't save everything, folks. Even cool planes end up as scrap. Like the P-38 Lightnings that were literally stacked and crushed after WW2 to favor the F-80's.
ringleheim
Lot of taxpayer money being chopped up and thrown in the garbage can there. Awesome!
ssculptor
Maybe the other side has developed a new technology that negates the stealthiness of the F-117, thus making the craft dangerously obsolete. Best to get rid of them all so some commander in the future cant send them out on a suicide mission.

John1
Lot of taxpayer money being chopped up and thrown in the garbage can there. Awesome! As opposed to spending taxpayer's money to keep un-needed aircraft in a semi-operational state? Not sure I'm following you here..... Also, I believe that a few -117's are still flying, for unknown reasons. Sounds like that program will be ending shortly though.
