Delayar
Finally, after another break, I started with the main wheel wells. They are far from finished, but I am not very good at such detailing, therefore it takes some time. And I found something on eBay: Cheers, Markus Edited July 14, 2017 by Delayar Anthony in NZ, F`s are my favs, A-10LOADER and 1 other
Delayar
Finally the wheel bays are done! It took some time, since this is a part of modelling I am not very fond of. But since I don't do many large scale planes, the ones I build should be nice models, therefore i do it anyway. ;-) Ok, ok, i have seen more detailed wheel bays, but it is ok for me. The gear door actuators and the hydraulic lines to the actuator will be added later. By the way, I have question. I have two pictures from the aircraft during the operation Unified protector, i think even from the same day. But i am not sure, if the canopy is tinted or not, since it looks a little bit different on both pictures: http://43yxx62a4d7x3iyru1r648gr.wpengine.netdna-cdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/Aviano-August-31-2011-OUP801-F-16CM-91-0389.jpg and http://www.31atsg.it/F-16/SW/F-16CM_91-0389.jpg Which canopy would you choose? The untinted or the tinted one? Cheers, Markus Edited July 14, 2017 by Delayar Shaka HI, F`s are my favs, Uncarina and 1 other
Shaka HI
Right..you're really "bad" at detailing...crazy guy. Looks awesome. Can't say for sure about the canopy -- but I say untinted. A-10LOADER
Delayar
Thank you very much. I used the build of geedubelyer on ARC as inspiration, and his wheel bays are srtellar: http://www.arcforums.com/forums/air/index.php?/topic/153050-tamiya-132nd-scale-f-16cj-block-50-fighting-falcon/&page=6 I also would tend to the untinted canopy, but I am not sure. Guest Peterpools
Markus Super work on the Viper's front office and wheelbay. I'm enjoying following your progress and top notch work. Keep 'rem coming Peter
jmel
Viper canopies aren't tinted like they used to be, but still aren't quite clear, either. I'd go with the clear canopy from the kit, if it were me, then shade it a bit darker. Glad to see you back at this Viper, my friend! Delayar
Thank you Peter and Jake. I will try to shade the clear canopy a little bit. And yes, I am still at the Viper, just at a very slow speed ;-) But now, since the wheel bays are finished, I hope to progress a little bit faster. ClumsyDude
Wheel bays look great Markus! Are you going to weather them at all? CHeersJim Delayar
F`s are my favs
Hi and awesome wheel bays! While for the canopies - on both pics they look the same to me... slightly tinted and the shade is different because of the different angles of the pics. Delayar
Wheel bays look great Markus! Are you going to weather them at all? CHeers Jim Thank you. Yes, I did some drybrushing and I also added a wash. But I didn't make any pictures of it before masking everything for the painting. After the wheel bays were complete, I assembled the wings and the fuselage. The tinted canopy in this shot is a dust cover for the cockpit ;-) The wheeliant wheels are also attached. According to Jakes suggestion, I tinted the canopy with Tamiya smoke. The top one is the one I will use, on the bottom ist the tinted canopy out of the box. I also hollowed out the end of the tailhook. And now, it is masked and ready for the paint: Cheers, Markus Edited July 14, 2017 by Delayar Shaka HI, Marcel111, F`s are my favs and 2 others

F`s are my favs
Btw, The smaller, rear, part of the canopy should be slightly more tinted than the main part.
Delayar
Thank you! Puh, it really is almost a year since I started this build... F: Yes, I noticed that too. There is a slight difference between my parts as well, although it is not discernible on the picture. I have another question to the experts: I finally sourced a 3D model of the JHCMS canopy sensor, which I intend to print on a 3D printer. However, the 3d model has only model coordinates, therefore I wanted to know what the size of the real sensor is, so that I could scale it accordingly.
