oramask 810 residue

I had this happen to me in the past, main reason I stopped using vinyl for masks.  I paint with Tamiya acrylics, so like you said the straight up IPA won't work.  The only thing that worked for me was a VERY gentle sanding with some ultra fine sanding pads, can't remember which one I used but I think it was either 3000 or 4000 grit.

Hrmmmm that is odd. I've got a gigantic roll of Oramask 810 and have cut a lot of it up to 8"x11" sections and have never had that issue. I did used to have that issue with the black canopy masks that came with some of the Montex sets.

Honestly I've not had that issue with any Oramask 810 sheets I've used even away from the big roll I currently have. I think you may have gotten a bad batch/some bad 810.

Karl, try a little bit of WD40 on a cotton bud to remove the residue. It won't harm acrylics, but isn't really safe with enamels. It works for me in removing residue from Bare Metal Foil, but I only ever use it on canopies. Not sure how it would go on the actual camouflage paint, or how you would remove its residue!

I've been curious about this myself. Oramask does work well for me, but there are definitely situations where I think Kabuki tape would work much better. My recent Cobra comes so mind with it's raised rivets.

I only use the kabuki tape (or Tamiya tape) now, never had a problem with them.
