nmayhew
just spec'ing out a Mossie project which will be a Banff-based bird with rockets I think Special Hobby have these RP-3 rockets for Mosquito, Typhoon etc in 1/32 - but that's it right? has anyone used them or know of them being used in a build? special hobby rockets does anyone have reference material for *exactly* where these rockets attach under wing? unsurprisingly, my Airframe and Miniature No.10 book's plans have no such information (just confirms my view about 90% of the literature that's churned out these days...looks cool but very little substance...grrrr) Troy Molitor and BloorwestSiR
Bob MDC
I think the Special Hobby are based on the Tempest the rails are ok but the mountings are wrong for the Typhoon and Mosquito Our rockets are for the Typhoon but we also have the correct mounting stubs for the Mosquito. The best reference for rocket placement is Mosquito FB VI by Dave Brown airframe systems and wartime usage. and for Banff Wing is Banff Strike Wing at War by Les Taylor you can still get this at reasonable price if you trawl a bit but some sites are silly money.. If you need anything drop me a PM Bob BloorwestSiR and nmayhew 1
Bob MDC
Just did a quick trawl Banff Strike Wing at War between £15.90 and £159.00 " you do the math" Bob nmayhew and Troy Molitor 1
Kagemusha
The Aviaeology Banff decal sheet contains detailed drawings, they are supposed to be releasing a rail set, but it's been three years now... BloorwestSiR and nmayhew 1
BloorwestSiR
Here's the Quickboost rockets on top and the Profimodeller ones below. I picked these up for my Banff strike wing Mossie. I've got the MDC stubs as well, just waiting for the rocket rails which Kagemusha just reminded me has been three years now... Anthony in NZ
Hmmmmm I didn't, probably should have. But the Aviaeology drawings are really good for the stub placement monthebiff
nmayhew
Thank you all for your input. I forgot I had the Brown book which has a nice plan view of placement of. I have ordered the Taylor book. Carl, Great looking Mossie! Do you have the link to that build? Some questions I’d like to ask about colours etc. you mentioned Quickboost - did you mean that or Special Hobby? The rockets were actually Aerobonus, not Quickboost. https://www.hannants.co.uk/product/QAB320064 The rails they come with would work on a Typhoon but not on the Mossie. They also have decals for the rockets included. nmayhew and Uncarina 1

nmayhew
I see, thank you Andy. So Bob, would I use your rocket set (in my link), cut the stubs of those rails, then add the stubs in Andy's link? That seems an awful fiddle! Kagemusha
I think there was three different types of rail used by the Mosquito, so perhaps the Special Hobby are correct for the Banff aircraft, or some of them... enjoy your research Nick! nmayhew
