Out2gtcha Posted April 29, 2019 Posted April 29, 2019 Indeed, much more scale looking. What are the screens made of?
chrish Posted April 29, 2019 Author Posted April 29, 2019 Hi Brian, the screens are 1/25 photo etch model car radiator punched out with a punch & die and the square vent is redundant Tamiya p.e. from the Tamiya 1/32 Mosquito. I used Eduard pe on the mozzie. Out2gtcha 1

The Echelon Lightning is head and shoulders above the Trumpeter kit. Simply stunning. The problem is finding one you don’t need to re-mortgage your house for! Iain and Phartycr0c 2
Phartycr0c Posted April 29, 2019 Posted April 29, 2019 Nice work Chrish, Gotta love a lightning. You got any plans to extend the fuselage by the 5mm? makes the finished product sooo much better.
chrish Posted April 29, 2019 Author Posted April 29, 2019 I do not plan on correcting the dimensional errors but possibly the landing gear length. The build is only for enjoyment at this time. dmthamade 1
dmthamade Posted April 30, 2019 Posted April 30, 2019 This is going to be a colorful build!! Nice change from grey airplanes. Don
chrish Posted April 30, 2019 Author Posted April 30, 2019 Not quite an accurate model but not the fight of say.....a Revell super hornet

I take your point, but in my defence you said, "...we're long overdue an accurate EE Lightning in our scale..." I say we already have one - yes it's hard to find and not mainstream, but in terms of accuracy it's about as good as you can get. When the Trumpeter kit is sat alongside the Echelon example, the former looks like a mere caricature of the real thing.

Well I'd love to build one......read through a build from I think 2002 this morning and I could see what you mean about detail and accuracy, but where oh where do I find one?

They occasionally come up on eBay and the like, but usually go for a pretty high price. Frank Brown captured the look of the Lightning so well - it just sits right. When you consider it’s a vacform from over 20 years ago, the standard is superb. You never know, a fellow members may read this with one in their stash and may consider selling... mozart 1
mozart Posted April 30, 2019 Posted April 30, 2019 Thanks Tom, I've just seen yours on your website, dead right about the "sit" (or "Jizz" as birders would call it) about the Lightning. I'm on a mission now!!!

chrish Posted April 30, 2019 Author Posted April 30, 2019 hahahaha agreed...this is a family show, lets watch the language...the term obviously has other meanings in different locals! Out2gtcha 1
Out2gtcha Posted April 30, 2019 Posted April 30, 2019 That is also a part I find funny..............no matter what side of the pond you are on, or came from, you aren't always aware you are you are speaking blue!
