Revell F/A-18E spine and other thoughts

First, some pictures from airliners.net, which are little more helpful as you can see the spine from different angles and in overall views, instead of in closeups.

Moving onto other areas, the rear of the fuselage.  The diamond shaped grills in front of the exhausts are much too big.  It looks like they used the dimensions of the red RBF cover, which is much larger than the grill itself.  The corresponding diamond grill on the underside are smaller and seem closer to the right size.

Some have mentioned that the exhausts are too far apart, but I’m not really seeing that.

The cockpit is pretty lame for the scale.  Minimal raised detail.  Decals are included, but there isn’t much there if you want to paint the IP and consoles.  Also, the cockpit sidewalls are completely bare, plus have a horizontal seam running through the sidewall since the lower half of the cockpit sidewall is part of the nose halves and the top part of the sidewall is part is the upper fuselage/LERX piece.  There are no rudder pedals, or even a front wall for the cockpit tub.

Thanks for that David, as ever , you get what you pay for , I've seen the kit online for around £50, less than half of the Trumpeter kit ,  but it really looks like a resin Pit is going to be needed , and the quality of the plastic doesn't hold out much promise re the long term robustness of the Undercarriage ..

Paging GFactor!!!

But you know the model might look rather fetching in Blue angels colours.. Just saying <_<...
