BiggTim
So was the shelter camouflaged to look like houses? To a former architectural model builder like me, this is a very cool idea! Edited March 10, 2017 by BiggTim

stresser
Yes, often airfield buildings were disguised with shop fronts or general camouflage. Often the same for important industry buildings, as they were targets. The building I work in still has camouflage paint on the parts that haven't been modified over the years. The site still has air raid shelters too.

fortress
So was the shelter camouflaged to look like houses? To a former architectural model builder like me, this is a very cool idea! hello, some shelters was grimmed, a commercial houses or a farm houses. i take my liberty to decorate the doors. but the left.-right-front walls was really painted. i join here the pictures i took in 2000 years on a special before the building was removed... my diorama will be a testimony. i recommend a beautifull book : Belgian Airfields and Allied Tactical Fighter Operations 1944-1945. i create my doors (fictional) helped with one picture from this book.
