Out2gtcha Posted September 16, 2016 Posted September 16, 2016 Neat! Love the relaxed pose..................and the cig. I actually found my big 21 lb cat Sam who occasionally sheds his gigantic 4" long whiskers, was the perfect medium to use for 32nd scale cigarettes. Love the hair too.................really need to try that one too at some point, as I Love the look of the scraggly hair sticking out of a hat
Ironwing Posted September 17, 2016 Posted September 17, 2016 (edited) Bubba The work that you do is simply stunning. Your skill sets and your ability. The things you do are simply beyond me in every sense. These are my heartfelt and genuine sentiments. These things said... please, if you would, be a good chap and tell me what kind of P38 this is? The hair can be tricky. Less is more. If you don't get it just right it will look very very fake, just like a bad wig. J Jeff 1

With that wild=ass metal punching you are doing I could say the same thing-beyond my skill set. See,what you may not be aware of,is the Luftwaffe guy here is THINKING of the P-38 that shot down his pilots' plane. J Shawn M 1
JRutman Posted September 19, 2016 Author Posted September 19, 2016 Thanks Maru for the very kind words as always. Here are two more middle aged reservists for the back of the truck. Two Army guys, one has already decided he won't wear the correct uniform any more as what's the point ? The other has the last style uniform from the end of the war. Mix them with the Luftwaffe mechanic. This thing shouldn't last too much longer. I just hope we make it to the Amis. Thanks for your continued support fellas, J Shawn M, Rdrunner, lawman56 and 1 other 4
ClumsyDude Posted September 19, 2016 Posted September 19, 2016 Jerry, this is really great work. Such a poignant period in history, hard to do justice to it in any medium ... let alone 1/35 styrene. And you, sir, are nailing it. Wow. Jim JRutman 1

Jeff Posted September 20, 2016 Posted September 20, 2016 " middle aged reservists"......................hhhhhhhhhhhmmmmmmmmmm I think I more than resemble that remark........... never ever thought I would tho.... just sayin..... I'm still enjoying the tutoring classes, I will miss them when we graduate... Awesome stuff Jerry... really enjoying this Cheers Jeff JRutman 1
JRutman Posted September 20, 2016 Author Posted September 20, 2016 (edited) Thanks Jeff, All three of these guys began as Brits, The one on the left is Dragon and the other two are I believe MB or maybe Miniart. With basic re-mod skills you can make a fig into almost anything you want to as long as you carefully choose the starting figure it doesn't even take that much conversion. Of course, you have to do a bit of research on uniforms, etc. The middle guy has kept his from the box head whilst the end guys both have Hornet replacements, They all have added hats as well.from various sources. I am running short on softcaps after doing this dio. J Edited September 20, 2016 by JRutman Shawn M, Jeff, Rdrunner and 1 other 4
Shawn M Posted September 20, 2016 Posted September 20, 2016 any details you could share on adding the "hair"? Am I right in assuming its cotton ball fibers? JRutman 1
JRutman Posted September 20, 2016 Author Posted September 20, 2016 Thanks Shawn, Yes,cotton swab or you can use any kind of cotton. I dip the cotton into a thinned solution of the color of paint I want the hair to be. Let dry. Then tease it out into strands. Superglue to the plastic hair already on the fig, which has already been painted the same color as the cotton. Let dry and blend with paint. Here is the stock Preiser fig from their older set of refugees/after the war figures on the left and my minor conversion on right. Some basic re-posing and carving and undercutting was involved. The molding bumbs and lumps had to be removed and a few pounds taken away with my dremel. Wouldn't it be nice to be able to diet in real life like that ? J She will be in the back row in the truck and so I will not need a spectacular figure back there. As if any of my figures are spectacular, LoL. ShelbyGT500, Shawn M, Jeff and 1 other 4
ShelbyGT500 Posted September 21, 2016 Posted September 21, 2016 Well Mr. Rutman you're the man I've seen a lot of 1/35 scale figures and how to's, but there is so much "live" at yours . . . speachless JRutman 1
BGB Posted September 21, 2016 Posted September 21, 2016 Hello Jerry, Fantastic job you have done with those figgs!! The only critisism I have to put forward is that the LW guy needs a comb Cheers Boris JRutman 1
JRutman Posted September 21, 2016 Author Posted September 21, 2016 Chavdar and Boris, Thanks for the kind words guys and very cool names,by the way. I must say I don't get to type that in somewhere very often,Chavdar and Boris. Sounds like the name of a trendy new sit-com on an obscure cable channel. I love the international aspect of modeling forums. Very nice. In reference to the "cotton hair" I tried to give that guy a sprinkle of grey at the temples as befitting a middle age man. I haven't suceeded at this so far because it is hard to blend the colors with the cotton bits. Oh well,WIP, J BGB, ShelbyGT500 and Jeff 3
