ShelbyGT500 Posted September 13, 2016 Posted September 13, 2016 Well am I lookin' an old man portrait or 1/35 scale figure Yep here I can feel the life of the character Just impressive JRutman 1
Shawn M Posted September 13, 2016 Posted September 13, 2016 Jerry, how do you paint beards and mustaches? JRutman 1
ClumsyDude Posted September 13, 2016 Posted September 13, 2016 That old man is simply incredible. The face is unbelievably impressive, well done Jerry. Jim
JRutman Posted September 14, 2016 Author Posted September 14, 2016 Quang,Shavdar,Shawn and Jim, Thanks fellas for looking in and making such gracious comments. Shawn,in this scale the beards and such are treated as an object. I paint the base color, then add a stain around the edges in darker colors and also a wash in darker tones. When dry I add highlites. If the beard is bushy enough I will tweek it with some dyed cotton strands. J Shawn M and ShelbyGT500 2
Shawn M Posted September 14, 2016 Posted September 14, 2016 thanks Jerry, my SAS guys have some crazy facial hair JRutman 1

JRutman Posted September 15, 2016 Author Posted September 15, 2016 OK,Jeff,I will try to make something happen here. Don't know what but..... Anyway, somebody has a boo boo and this is why Opa isn't too happy. Once again, these are hopelessly enlarged and I cringe at all the blemishes at this magnification. J Jeff, ShelbyGT500, BGB and 1 other 4
ClumsyDude Posted September 15, 2016 Posted September 15, 2016 I have to say Jerry you're pretty good at cringing ... if you can cringe at that you'll cringe at anything Jim ShelbyGT500 1
ShelbyGT500 Posted September 15, 2016 Posted September 15, 2016 If that photo was B/W render it will be like an archives from WWII documentary movie Jeff 1
Jeff Posted September 15, 2016 Posted September 15, 2016 Well, with this tutelage , I started to clean up and scrape a few of my Masterbox figures, by opening sleeves, and jackets where they flare out, not an easy task in some areas with the hamfists I have, (but if I don't look too close), it has made a world of difference to how the jacket seems to 'fall', looks way more real, many thanks Jerry, this time I actually tried something and it works .......I'm no where near the sculptor you are, but for my efforts, I'm fairly happy so far, I still have a long way to go tho... JRutman Posted September 16, 2016 Author Posted September 16, 2016 (edited) This figure was completed fairly rapidly. It is a Warriers offering with a Hornet head so it was well sculpted and a breeze to paint after all the reworking needed for the last few figs. The flesh tones are all Lifecolor acrylic while most of the uniform was Valejo. The uniform was done with 4 different shades of gray, finishing with black. I tried making a Luftwaffe qualification patch showing aircraft mech. but it came out kind of crappy I think. I believe this is one of the best heads ever done by Mr Saunders and that is saying something because all his stuff is soooo nice. You can see how defined the shoes are with mo work from me at all !! Just slap some paint on and they are ready. No matter how careful I am thre always seems to be dust bits that cling to the finished fig.
