Thanks for the help....

But the metal gear is not complete in the link above....the disks are missing....the one next to the Wheel....as i need new one aswell if going to work.....

As the problem still remains....and i am where i am for the moment....as options clearly dissapears....

And i really dont want to put up 130€ for another kit just to cannibalize the landing gear.....

Yes but you can buy the resin wheels from Barracudacal

http://store.spruebrothers.com/product_p/barbr32119.htm

This remedy both of your problems (wheel and LG)

In all, it will cost you about 30$ for both

Both are in stock ;)

For removing the tamiya one... I know you can do that in a breeze.

You can't throw all that beautiful work to the bin

Hi Mal

NO WAY! .. we've been down the same path with mistakes, re-dos, completely stripping every once of paint off a build and re-doing most everything when we add it all up. No need to bite the bullet! Time to re-group the troops. Here the plan of attack and the 7th Cavalry:

1. Call or email Tamiya and they will replace the parts, just tell them what happened. Geez, there hasn't been a Tamiya build for me in the past few years, I haven't needed Tamiya to pull me out of the woods.

2. Buy a set of either Eduard Brassin Wheels and Hubs or a set from Barracuda. I've used them both on my Mustangs, Spitfire and Corsair - absolutely gorgeous stuff.

You will wind up with a fantastic new set of gear legs and gorgeous wheels and hubs.

I know you too well to know you won't do whatever it takes to repair and finish the Big bent Wing Bird.

Keep 'em coming

Peter

There is one problem with resin for me...

I get headache and womit feel when i work with it....avouding it much as possible....

I know it sounds rudiciolus....

I had minor hell when i did resin stuff on 109 diorama......

Hmmm ill se how i do....:(

the support in US told me to contact Tamiya europe and ive done that before...and it sucks big time.....

Ill keep this in hold.....and that may take long time before im on the bench with new parts....

But for the moment inspiration have flew away and that is more worrying.....

Just got an idea...

Maybe i can mail you my Tamiya LG and wheel parts?

As i said, i already have the metal LG and resin wheels... and don't plan to use the plastic one.

F4U-1 and 1A lg and wheels are the same? right?

I can do that this weekend... As i need to read thru the instruction to know which parts (if any) i need to keep.

Maybe by the time you receive them, your mojo will be back :)

Pm me your address if you want to take my offer ;)

This gear breakage is probably one of the most common hazards of plastic modeling.

You will just add to your skillset by facing this problem head on after calm deliberate consideration Mal.

You can and should approach this temporary setback as you have approached the other 99% of the Corsair, Calmly, Cleanly and Expertly.

We have faith in your skills, and so should you.

Relax and press on after regrouping.

What a schitt.

We all feel your pain, Mal.  We've all been there in one form or another.  The Degree of Crappiness Is In Direct Proportion To The Time Invested Club is a crappy place to be.

Sometimes the best of them just get away no matter what we do.  It happens.  It happens to everyone.  It happens in everything.

Box it up and put it away.  It's too damn good of a build to trash.  Solve the problem when your mind clears.  Maybe don't do any modeling until your mind clears.

So it won't be perfect?  So what?  Believe me, it's not that I'm not unsympathetic, but there are worse things in life.

Oh well, just my 2 cents.

Sincerely,

Mark
