Doug I don't have a lot of luck with decals hence I paint whenever possible, to be fair the Kagero decals are among the best that I have used and I would not hesitate to use them again, but with plain water and not Sol next time. dennismcc Posted December 8, 2013 Author Posted December 8, 2013 (edited) All the painting and decorating is finished so it is time to get back to this build, as usual i rigged up a "holder" to allow me to airbrush the matt varnish coat, this took the form of a bendy steel rod pushed through the nose and out of the radiator hole in the lower nose.This worked a treat but there are still a few parts of the airframe that are a bit too shiny for my liking, I don't go for a serious matt finish I like to leave a slight sheen but these parts will have to be re done. On with the slow fidley bits, next up is the undercarriage, this part of the build has been lurking around in the back of my mind as a bit of a tricky one from just looking at the parts involved first up this part that fits in the wheel well and on which all depends. The two "yokes" needed cleaning out a bit and the locating pin needed to be thinned a tad, once that was done it was fitted in place. Then the main undercarriage leg was attached using CA, before it set the rear strut was added, and then quickly to ensure the angle was correct the side strut was added, I use medium CA which gave me the time to adjust things before it set. I did not add the small pieces of wire, these may go on later. This gave a very odd looking set of angles, but it is as per the instructions. I was very impressed with how you handled all the small roadblocks along the way, especially the windscreen; which normally wouod have been a killer.
