Erwin Posted July 31, 2024 Posted July 31, 2024 (edited) Hi all, Not realy my thing helicopters. But it will look nice next to my 1/18 Dauntless,Me-262 and FW-190. And the Me-109 waiting for a suitable GB. I know it's not the most detailed or accurate model. But I like it. And it's BIG ! Alex Posted July 31, 2024 Posted July 31, 2024 That IS going to be a huge model. Close to a meter long with rotors included! BiggTim and BradG 2
Erwin Posted August 7, 2024 Author Posted August 7, 2024 (edited) The kit arrived today. First impression. It's big. Detail ? Very poor. But that never stopped me from building a kit. I shall be happy when it looks like a Huey in the end. Edited August 7, 2024 by Erwin BiggTim, BradG, Alain Gadbois and 2 others 5
Erwin Posted August 14, 2024 Author Posted August 14, 2024 I started the build by cleaning the parts and some minor cockpit work. I decided to build it with closed door. The cockpit is very poor. This will be a build just for the overall look. Alain Gadbois, denders, Alex and 2 others 5
Grissom Posted August 17, 2024 Posted August 17, 2024 Hi Erwin, The kit may be simple and not have much interior detail but, hopefully, it will be a relatively stress-free and enjoyable build for you. Can't wait to see your work. Cheers, Wayne Erwin and BiggTim 2
Erwin Posted August 20, 2024 Author Posted August 20, 2024 (edited) The clear parts have to be fixed inside before joining the body halves. So I painted the doors and frames instead of having to mask the clear parts. The cockpit is some minor painting. The gray is unpainted plastic.Just the controls and seats are painted. Erwin Posted August 21, 2024 Author Posted August 21, 2024 (edited) Not an easy part of the build. No room for error or dryfitting as the halves click together. Get it wrong and it needs to be seperated by force. Some gabs to be filled and sanded. The front clear part goes in after painting. Erwin Posted August 23, 2024 Author Posted August 23, 2024 (edited) The main build is done. Next step is painting and decals. The rotors, stabilizers, windscreen and skid are the last step. Edited August 23, 2024 by Erwin Landrotten Highlander, Alex, BradG and 2 others 5

Erwin Posted August 25, 2024 Author Posted August 25, 2024 (edited) I just need to do the black antiglare . No weathering. This will be a "museum presentation" Edited August 25, 2024 by Erwin Landrotten Highlander, BradG, MikeC and 4 others 7
Erwin Posted August 26, 2024 Author Posted August 26, 2024 (edited) Hi all, Bigger model doens't mean longer building time. This has nearly no inner detail to worry about. I only added the US-markings and tail rotor warning. This was a fun and no-stress build. I hope HB does more of the big kits. The P-40 is on my list. My next big one is the 1/18 Me 109E for a GB on Britmodeller. But I shall also post it on LSP. I call this a "museum" Huey Edited November 19, 2024 by Erwin themongoose, Alain Gadbois, Landrotten Highlander and 8 others 11

Alain Gadbois Posted August 27, 2024 Posted August 27, 2024 Glad you had fun building this big model! Lucky for your shelf space the Huey rotor only has two blades! Erwin 1
