  1. Above & Below Decals in Canada also does nice work. https://www.abovebelow.ca
  2. Hey neighbor, thanks for sharing your story. I also support finding this guy. Sure sounds like he set you up. If he does it to you, he'll do it to others. He probably has done it to others. If we can help, let us know. Dave
  3. Thanks for sharing this with us Pete. Have you used Perfect Plastic Putty and if so is it different? Thanks for sharing your good work. Dave
  4. No doubt! I have a few photos that give clues as well. I haven't quite figured out how all that equipment is attached. Dave
  5. Hi Pete, I'm watching this with interest. I received my kit as well. The plan is to convert it to USAF 38th or 66th Rescue Sq birds as filmed in the "Inside Combat Rescue" series. Your work will be very helpful for my project. I too have been looking at a lot of main cabin ceiling pictures. I'm also looking at a lot of aft cabin photos where all the med kits are stored. I think that's going to be my biggest challenge. Have you come across any references on how they kit these birds out? Thanks for sharing your work! Dave
  6. Nice work Barry! Just don't shoot your eye out, kid!
  7. Eli, please do a 1/48 set as well.
  8. I'm curious to know if there will be a WWII version. The CAD drawings indicated the mast and gun blister on the starboard side of the fuselage. Also they indicated the correct canopy framing for a pre "G" version. Hopefully at some point we'll have that option from this kit. Dave
  9. I especially like the hand painted stenciled numbers and bars on the star. Very nicely done. Looking forward to starting my own! Dave
  10. Like the others have said this is great news. I've been waiting for a 1/32 T-6 since Hobbycraft of Canada announced one several years ago. I've had the pleasure of flying this airplane and just loved it. I can still hear my instructor "left rudder, right rudder, any rudder!" Good times. I hope this is an old one. Actually a couple of canopy, gun, and mast options would be amazing. I would love to do a Tuskegee T-6 as I did some years ago in 1/48 scale for the owner of the aircraft. Here are a couple of photos... Steve Cowell in Denver restored the only known surviving Tuskegee T-6 to her original glory. I found his photo with Lee Archer. Here's the 1/48 Monogram rendition I created and gave to Steve.
  11. Welcome back. Very nice build and great tribute to your dad.
  12. Hi Jamie, A friend just sent me your post here. Are you talking about the 1/48 kit you're building now? The Zacto nose piece is 1/32. AMS makes a nice nose replacement in 1/48 but you will need to shim the fuselage wider forward of the cockpit by about .020 to get everything to line up correctly. AMS also makes a nice tail correction. You're right about fitting the Aires wheel bays. They require a lot of thinning of the fuselage and I'm sure it will hold true if you've decided to do a 1/32 version of this kit. Take care Dave
  13. Those are wonderful builds and will show very well with the actual aircraft. I'm sure your friends will be very pleased! Dave
  14. Very nice build! I always make it a point to check out these WNW builds. I like what you did with the right aileron. Is there a story behind this or simply artistic license? Thanks for sharing Dave
  15. Welcome back Martin. Best of luck with your new venture. Hopefully a B-26K will be in your plans someday. I signed up and looking forward to updates. Dave
  16. The finish and weathering are exceptional. The panel work is superb. Can you share your weathering techniques.
  17. What I would do before assembly is build up the plastic parts (probably on the wing itself) with thin strips of Evergreen strip plastic until you have it roughly filled in. From what I'm seeing it shouldn't take much. You should have just a little more plastic than you need. Then sand and shape to fit. This should leave you with a good joint to glue up. Make sure that you don't distort the dihedral of the wings by testing your fit. This should give you a stronger joint than trying to jam a bunch of super glue in there. Dave
  18. I'm thinking B-26K, Vietnam style.
  19. The only problem I've had with the blutac is that it can leave oily stains behind. The white variety does not seem to have this characteristic. However it is not as easy to use as the blue variety. Has anyone else experienced this issue with the oily stains and do you have a fix? Another benefit of bluetac is that it is great for holding parts while you paint them. Thanks Dave
  20. You my friend are an artist! It just goes to show you that you don't need to add $200 in aftermarket parts to create an exceptional model. The panel work and weathering is beautiful. Very nice build! Dave
  21. Very nice Barry. But Rhino Modelworks? I've not heard of them. I didn't find anything on ebay. Can you tell me where to find this company? Thanks! Dave
  22. Brian, Do you have your foiling techniques documented? I'm starting to play with this stuff and looking for help with techniques. Dave
  23. Thanks for the help guys. I'm not an expert but I believe that aircraft ordered by the British received the Browning .303 which is the .30 cal version of the gun they used. They all seem to have these cooling jackets with the elongated slots. I've seen at least some photos of these guns with what is called a booster which is that gear looking thing on the muzzle. These were sometimes fitted with flash hiders as well. Piotr has made these guns in both the US (round holes in cooling jackets) and British versions (elongated holes) and has even included a set with the flash hiders. The aircraft the AVG received were originally designated to be sold to the British, thus the use of the British camo colorings used on the airplane. Now I have read accounts by veterans that the aircraft were received originally without the guns installed. That may or may not be true, but because this area had such a heavy British influence it could be that these were the guns available to be installed. If somebody has any information on that I'd love to hear it. I asked Piotr if he's going to do these in 1/48 scale and while he said he is planning to do it there are a lot of projects in the line ahead of that at the moment. Anyway, I hope you enjoy these and get a chance to use them. Dave
  24. Greetings, Often overlooked are the wing mounted guns on the P-40C used by the AVG. These were Browning .303 and are easily identified by their jackets. Also P-40C exports to the British included these same barrels, some with flash hiders. Piotr with Model-Master in Poland has produced some 1/32 replacement barrels that work beautifully with the Trumpeter/Hobbycraft kit. Here are some photo examples including the barrels produced by Piotr. These can also be seen on his web site which is http://www.master-model.pl/ If you are interested reach out to Piotr who can direct you to a distributor. Thanks Piotr for making such nice products for us! Dave
