  1. Wonderful build Jeroen! I love the paintjob and weathering! Philippe
  2. Great work Johan. I love the weathering on the exhaust pipe. Looks very convincing. Did you use pigment powders? Also looking fwd to the rigging proces. Keep up the good work :-) Groeten Philippe
  3. Another small update on the SE5a: At last I can put some paint on the wings and fuselage. Starting with the underside of the wings. after airbrushing the base colour (Gunze sail mixed with Gunze off white), I roughly taped off the wing structure, a tedious job that took me just over 2 hours... Afterwards I airbrushed some heavily thinned brown acrylics along the tape to simulate the shadows. The tape was removed and the wings were airbrushed again with the thinned base colour until the wanted effect was achieved. A lot of tape.... ...and the end result. Trying out some green/brown mixtures for the fuselage now on a scrap model. I think I'll go for an olive drab tint. I'll post some pictures later on. regards Philippe
  4. Wow... didn't check this tread for a while... incredible work Richard! I didn't realize you are building a real aircraft :-) Regards Philippe
  5. great work Hans! The DII is on my to do list as well, but I think, I'll wait for the Wingnut wings kit :-) greetz Philippe
  6. Thanks for the comments guys :-) Progress is slow, but steady. I've almost finished the engine. Just have to add some more wiring and some copper pipes. Greetz Philippe
  7. Looking great Jeroen :-)! Grtz Philippe
  8. Hi All, After my Pfalz, my first intention was to build the Tamiya Spitfire, but the call of the wingnut kits in my stack was too strong...and I had to give in :-) The SE5a is on of their earlier kits if i'm correct. As usual, the detail is awesome. The only thing I didn't like was the cockpit frame and cables in between that were molded onto the fuselage side. I removed all cables and built some of the frame that was missing, using plastic strip. The woodwork was painted using oils. After the paint was dry, I added the cables, using bob's buckle's and 0.012mm fishing wire. I have removed all the detail on the instrument panel and rebuilt everything using Aeroclub and Aber PE leftovers and thin copper wire. There is one gauge missing, that I still have to add btw. Still to do in the cockpit: rudder pedals and control cables. The seatbelts are from HGW and look great. I didn't attach them yet to the seat because I still have to weather the seat cushion. This is again, one great kit, that provides me with hours of modelling joy :-) Philippe
  9. wow, awesome build! Will follow this one for sure. Best Philippe
  10. Thx for the nice comments guys. The plane is ready and now i'm working on a simple base and figurine to go with it. The figurine I'm using is from a company called 'the model cellar' click here for website. their figurines are top notch and a pleasure to paint. Here are 2 pictures of the progress so far. (legs and boots still have to be painted properly and as you see the poor guy still has a spike up his bum :-)) I have used life color acrylics and i can only recommend that brand! Thanks for looking Philippe
  11. amazing model! This must be one of the most beautiful Spit builds i've ever seen. Top! Philippe
  12. Thanks guys :-) For the rigging I've used "Bob's Buckles" eyelets and tubes (great stuff!!) and fishing wire. @Roy: unfortunately, I didn't keep a record of the time spent on this model, but I guess it must be around 70-80 hours in total. I spent a lot of time on the lozenge decals and had to restart twice because the decal setting solution I was initially using was too strong, and it ruined the decals. Detailing and painting the cockpit and engine was also very time consuming. but these are wonderful kits and a joy to build and worth your time ;-) Regards philippe
  13. beautiful Sea Fury! BTW, What kind of lamps do you use together with your light tent? Regards philippe
  14. Hi all, At last, I finished my Wingnut Wings Pfalz IIIa The plane is finished, but working now on groundwork and pilot figurine to go with it. Prop is handmade wooden one. This was my first try and it turned out better than I expected. No more painted props for me :-) Lots of work to finish this one, but loads of fun as well. Sorry about the pictures. Have to buy new lamps for my self made studio. Will post some new pictures soon :-) Cheers philippe
  15. amazing work Christian! Very interesting topic to follow as well. I always steered clear of vac kits (too time consuming, too difficult,...) but your Ju-52 build certainly fueled my interest and motivation. it must be very rewarding to complete a vac kit. Will be following this thread for sure. Keep up the good work philippe
