  1. Wow! Wish i could have made the trip this year, 1/32 is looking very good, and so nice to see some of our stuff built up so beautifully....Would sure like to know who built that gorgeous Skyray....I was too chicken to do that paint job when i was doing the instruction model ....want to see more! Love those Red Barons too...can't wait to go to Reno for inspiration next month, maybe this year The bear will win once more! Thanks so much for posting the pictures Paul
  2. All of the above techniques are great, I just want to say coolest model I've seen in quite a while! Love the old Wacos...nice to see one coming to life in 1/32! Bravo, Sir. Paul Fisher
  3. Hi Iain, The flaps pictured above are a 1649 Starliner, the 1049 based EC-121 and WV-2 had constant section Fowler flaps..I am almost done molding them in 1/72 for my upgrade set. There is an excellent shot on page 27 of the Naval Fighters No.8 C-121 book by Steve Ginter that shows a fair bit of the internal structure of the flap bays as well as the actuator arms and jack-screws. Keep Calm and Build On...I cannot wait to see this beauty in the Manly Scale... Paul
  4. Good morning Gents! I don't yet have the Tempest kit, but having gotten a number of emails about the Sea Fury LG legs I thought I should chime in...I think, repeat think, the gear legs would be OK, the resin ones we do for our wheel well upgrade can be more easily modified up top to fit the Tempest kit and we're happy to provide them . A brave soul could probably split our wheel well on the centerline and use it to improve the rather plain one in the kit too, I don't know for sure. If you want to try a set shoot me an email and we'll make you a deal! Paul
  5. Wow... Quite a showing , wish I could find a way to attend, and that Supermarine S.4 is a stunner.I must admit to being partial to Jason's F9F-8 Cougar too...a superb build and finish on one of my favorites. Cheers! Paul
  6. I have gathered a fair bit of VooDoo stuff over the years...actually was given the task of carving a wood one in 1/48 way back when I was in the model shop at Northrop..this was long before the Monogram kit . I still have the drawings around, and a few other books and will happily put together some stuff for you...I gave up the notion of doing a kit in 1/32 due to the size and inevitable cost.It will be a very large model. Also, beware the Combat Models kit...the fuselage halves are not even close to symmetrical, when viewed from above it is a banana. Shoot me a pm and I will try to get you the 1/32 drawings I have . Paul
  7. Nice to see the build progressing, and yes, the shrink demon has been in evidence on the Ford...but, one minor quibble...the small cutaway at the forward lower edge of the rudder is supposed to be there, it's a clearance measure so it can turn on the real bird.Just sayin'... Paul
  8. Ooohhh...a Martin B-10 in 1/32, what a lovely idea....Hmmmnn.....I know a guy who might just do that sometime. Paul, scratching chin and deep in thought!
  9. Hi Guys...looks like there's a bug in the instruction manual...I will try to post a pdf of the page as it is supposed to be...gonna have to talk to my printer! Anyway, really glad to see a WIP on this model, it was a project and a half to bring it to market, can't wait to see what you do with it Terry! Paul
  10. Gentlemen! I cannot do the Stearman since I am here in the U.S.A. and Boeing will sue me out of existence .Go Silverwings! they will do a beautiful job of it, and with a bit of luck, a few will make it through Customs before the lawyers get them impounded for breach of trademark. Sad , but true. That is the world we live in. I tried to link to my pictures of the Ryan on Photobucket , but being the digital dinosaur I am, I could not figure it out. Where are the teenagers when you need them? My smartphone is smarter than me. Sigh. The future ain't what it used to be. I am happy to report that the decals for the Ryan arrived today , we should start shipping Friday. This is a very good thing since my dog ( he is a very large dog) is hungry and we need to sell a boatload of these things or , well, it does not bear describing. The ST or PT-20 with the inline engine is well along, and if sales permit, there will be a Firefly Mk.V. to follow. Thanks to you all, Paul
  11. Looks like more of the Hachette Publishing stuff...like the giant Lancaster they sold by subscription. If these were done by the fellows I think, they will be spectacular , but verrrrrry spendy. Certainly fun to look at. Paul
  12. I have used them a fair bit of late, and they work very well, the only problems being that the rows of rivets are printed so close together you cannot leave much of a margin to easily hide the decal strips edges. If you're going to do a large airframe, it's going to cost a bundle. Just as an aside..if you're working in styrene you can use a beading tool or punch to impress rivets, then spray a very light coat of lacquer thinner or other "hot" solvent on the model and the rivet heads will swell up just a bit and look quite realistic. My friend Brian has even done this on resin...though we are not sure if it is repeatable. Good luck! Paul
  13. Terry....words fail me here. That is simply everything I hope to see when I send a kit out to someone ...a spectacular build in every sense of the word and very inspiring for Susy and I here to see this and read such nice things. When I am making the masters for these kits, I have a mental image of the hoped for finished product that I keep in my head while I work, it helps to get things done when the going gets tough..and believe me, it gets tough now and again. That is the model I "saw in my head" throughout the design and molding ...just beautiful. I too would like to post some pics of your model in our newsletter, with your permission. I think a lot of the Cutlass kits we sold will get built after people see this...I know I am going to make time to do a silver ship myself...someday.... Bravo, sir! Paul Fisher
  14. Wow...an outstanding build, makes me want to do one "in flight" configuration.....Hmmmm.Might have to do it if ever i get some time. Paul
  15. Good Morning , Gents. Yes indeed, sitting here in the shop is a 1/32 Tempest II which has been made by dint of much sweat, toil and Bondo by my best mate Lt. Mark Lynch of the Royal Australian Navy. After learning of the Tempest coming soon from Special Hobby I thought better of it as I cannot afford to do in resin what they will do in plastic, the numbers just don't work. Mark got the airframe about 95% of the way there, if SH make a bad job of it it might make sense to do correction parts based on what we have here much as we did for the HC Sea Fury kit., otherwise best to see what our friends in Prague give us. Stay tuned, it's a great time to be into 1/32 scale, Paul
  16. Many thanks for the feedback guys...I have had the VooDoo drawings and other Century Series stuff blown up to 1/32 for many moons...the size and cost factors in mastering and then tooling them to any reasonable level of user friendly assembly is truly frightening.I actually have the casting tanks big enough to do it, but the molds would cost more than my car. A certain decal artist we all know and love has been lobbying me for the F-106 now for as long as I've known him, and every time I look at the numbers to do a kit I shudder. I guess we'll see what comes of Trumpeter's long ago promise to do all the Century Series in our scale. I'm with you, Derek on the XP-40Q, such a great looking ship...I did one for myself in 1/72 scale (way back when my eyes allowed for 1/72 !!) and it was a lovely model, took it to a number of IPMS contests and the prevailing question was "What's that thing??'....sigh. Anyway, gotta million things to do today so I will check back in later, thanks again.... Paul
  17. Well...I just re-discovered some factory drawings I had in the files of the XP-47J.....am thinking about it as a (major) conversion, but would prefer to do a full kit of the XP-72 "Ultrabolt" so I thought I would see if there were any good drawings rattling around. Both my boys are Air Force, and they constantly bug me about doing all of these Squid 'planes...have to start doing USAF stuff at some pint, and the XP-72 just does it for me...a man can never be too "up on his jugs".Just sayin! Also kicking around the P-59 Airacomet and a full tilt F-82 with some help form Ken Friend.I would do a Dog Sabre, but I hear rumors of it in 1/32 plastic, can't be too careful these days. any help, suggestions or comments will be welcome! Paul
  18. Does Chris still hang out here? I am having trouble with a P-47 question and as i recall he's the go-to guy for the T-Bolt. Thanks! Paul Fisher
  19. Hi, Please re-send your e-mail, or give me a call, Susy and I have had to take on daily care of my Mom ,starting about 6 weeks ago and communications as well as schedules have been messed up ever since, but we're gaining on it.I can probably e-mail you a pdf of the stuff you need. Thanks, Paul Fisher fisher@fishermodels.com or madgepetto@gmnail.com
  20. Thanks guys...I will take a few pictures and post them a bit later, have to run out now. BEst, Paul
  21. Hi Guys.... Already have a lovely master for the big 400 ga tanks, put them on the website back in '07 and nobody seemed to care, but I do have castings if you want them. They are big, and somewhat heavy. Please let me know if you would like , I'd be happy to do a short run for those who want one or a pair. Major update on the Skyray soon! Paul
  22. Good Morning LSP! I am very happy to see all the joy at the news of the coming PT-22 kit...If we can sell enough of them to feed Alfred the dog ( he's a BIG dog) you can bet the ST will come along shortly .Such a beautiful airplane, who could resist it? The idea of the PT is to create a smaller, less expensive kit than the big jets to encourage more builders to try out our stuff. One thing to remember is that the ST is really a different airplane in almost every way from the PT-22....slimmer, shorter fuselage, landing gear mounted closer in, no sweep-back on the wings and all of those lovely fairings the military didn't want..No one has done a really good kit of it yet...even the old reliable Hawk/Testors Ryan St in 1/48 was done to bad drawings, as cool as it is.I must have built 20 of them back when I was a kid. Hope to have this little goody in shape for some pictures in a week or so, but I wanted to express our thanks for the enthusiasm...no AT-6 here, but that Stearman...well...who knows what masters lurk in the dark corners of this workshop? Season's Greetings from Susy , Susan and I, and of course the doggies! Paul Fisher
  23. Hi Tim ! Actually I made the pattern from sitka spruce left over from an archtop guitar project...I hate to waste good wood and it smells lovely when carved! Should have pics of the finished model soon... Paul
  24. Hi Folks.... Not to worry, the 1/48 Tamiya model is only to show the size difference, where they got the bizarre nose profile in their kit I don't know, but it won't be on my Skyray! I have been working from old Douglas engineering drawings and manuals with a lot of help from Mark Frankel and in turn, Nick Williams' collection of Ford data. The airframe is in plastic now, when I get it a bit cleaned up I will try to post some pictures.Fitting the cockpit tub now. As for the Six and the TR-1...we'll just have to see! They are a bit on the largish size of things...TR-1's overfly my workshop weekly in and out of Beale..saw one doing circuits out of Chico airport a few weeks ago...very nice! best, Paul
  25. Hi Gents, Just a note te say the Mirage II sets for the Revell kit are now going out, though i should post a picture of the contents. Hunter T.7 set and Cutlass are nearing completion too, and the RB-51 should be coming along soon as well. Thanks, Paul Fisher www.fishermodels.com
